I would replace the three main coolant hoses.

Are those fairly easy to access when the motor is in the car?

Would you happen to have the updated part #s?

+ 1.

What's the feeling on these pups and when they should be replaced as a preventative measure?

And which ones are a must to be replaced? Should they be replaced with aftermarket units or are stock hoses okay?

+2 on Hoses. I had one break @ about 33K. It was very expensive to get to and repair, engine had to be dropped for 8 dollar part. If your there already with rest of work go ahead and replace. sorry my mechanic replaced so i dont have part number

Also curious about the coolant hoses since I have one that leaks. Well I'm pretty sure its a coolant hose and not the reservoir because the leak occurs when the car is on but not when it is off.

I'll post the part number in the morning..

You should also include removing the front bumper and checking your front radiators.. If they are leaking, it would be a good time to replace them. With the bumper off, clean all the trapped debris out.

Thanks Kevin- I'll hold off ordering all the parts until you post the #s.

I cleaned the radiators a couple of months ago- not much in there- I guess a dry climate helps.

What about this one?

Are all of these accessible with the motor in the car?

does it make a difference, if one changes out gear oil more often?
a porsche dealer told me any 75 90 is fine.

More often = cheap insurance, especially if you track.

EVERYONE who has recommended gear oil, from Kevin, GTGears, GBox, have ALL recommended Delvac synthetic. Not an area I'd like to save a few bucks.

So here's my 30k list so far-

997 Coilpacks 997.602.104.00
Bosch plugs
Variocam solenoid brackets (the ones that break, since we'll be in there, easy enough to replace... $16 part...) 996.105.310.72
Fuel Filter
Coolant Reservoir
Coolant Cap
Drive Belt
Air Filter
997 Trans mount (just for fun) 997.375.033.03

Carrera GT Key (I have one dead key)
Delvac Synth Gear Oil

BTW, Sunset Porsche has GREAT prices on most of these items...
