The package finally cleared customs in Belgium!

Now I'm anxious to try the load…

But it's not clear to me..

I place the device right into the odbc port, and read my ecu…

Then how does it go on?
Because the described process stops there…

Do I store my original image somewhere? there's no soft included...

How do I load the umw image?

sooo many questions

Kris,

Read the instructions and transfer the file from the ECU thru the OBD2 port. Don't get ahead of yourself.

Then EMAIL me.. DON'T PM me..

What timing. My flash finally cleared customs and got to me today also. I read the instructions and the transfer went smooth. All the reviews are dead on. Took her out on the highway and was amazed how hard the car pulls in 5th and 6th gear. Lot's of power down low also. Cruising around town is more pleasurable also due to the overall improvement in driveability. Thanks Kevin, you make a great product.

Calling "FASTBOY" - you have to get this flash, it's a no brainer

question for Kevin,

is the Bosch FR6 LDC the spark plug you recommend after getting your flash? also is it true you change them every 5k miles (every oil change)?

Thanks

I'm another happy recent UMW customer. I flashed the car last week and....WOW! The car engages smoothly from a stop, moves crisply, and once you get on it, it really moves! The car feels incredible. Thanks Kevin - this is by far the best mod I have done so far!

Thanks guys...

Polar> yes the Bosch FR6 LDC is the plug that I recommend, because of the durability to withstand misfires and fuel deposits. With the flash you should be able to go to 20K.

Default Changing plugs at 20K miles because of flash?

Kevin,

you are the second Porsche person to mention that spark plugs should be changed every 20K miles on flashed/modified 996 turbos. Would you mind explaining the rational behind this shortened interval? I realize you also believe changing oil more often than Porsche says is a good thing. I am keen on keeping my expensive engine running right for a long time.

The rational is that the plugs WILL misfire before the car reaches 20K later..

I am running a richer mixture vs stock.. We are running alot more boost, AND the fuel that we have now is CRAP compared to the 93 octane that was required when the cars were driven off the show room.

If you want more miles, run stock boost and fill the tank with 93 octane. Performance COST money, plugs running in top condition prevent detonation or pre-combustion. I am recommending preventative maintenance.

BTW, do a little hunting and see what the new 997GT2RS plug change interval is?

What should the plug gap be on the Bosch FR6 LDC plugs?
