I can tell you with absolute certainty (confirmed by a duramentric after a spirited run), that I've logged a type II after a redline shift where I did not even feel the rev limiter kick in. I do have a flash, but I don't think I have my rev limit raised. I don't say this to start a debate or invite speculation as to why my car logged a type II, but only to debunk any contention that a "money shift" is the only way to log a type II over-rev. Its not (at least in my car).
