I thought the blues were street pads - that's what I was going for, anyway. And my receipt says they're Textars. Weird how I got away with them on the rears without squealing.

They are street pads but not in the pure street pad sense. They are what you would call "sport" street pads so they have a higher friction coefficient than your standard OEM pads. They require a tad more heat to get up to temp are are geared for the spirited driver.

I see. Well, I am somewhat spirited on the road, unless the car is pulling daily driver duty, in which case I'm more sedate. Hopefully reinstalling the dampers and regluing will fix it. If not, I'll have to switch to OEM, in-the-Porsche-box pads.

Spirited driving on the road isn't enough to get track pads hot. Dell's right - the issue is most likely the pads. Rears get less braking load, so they tend to squeal less.

You can reduce the squeal by braking a little harder. But if it really bother you, then go back to street pads. They have those big metal ears on top to reduce squeal. FWIW, before I got my GT3 calipers, I used to swap my track Pagids out for OEM pads between events, and there was no squeal even without the dampers.

Mine do have those ears (same form factor as the old pads I pulled out). And the squealing is horrendous - I've heard garbage trucks that are quieter, lol. I'll put the spiders back in, glue 'em up, and see how that goes this weekend.

BTW, your 996 turbos rock my world. Great looking and performing cars!

Aftermarket pads are *tough* to squeeze in with dampers....shelve the dampers.
