That's in the ballpark. When I head out on long road trip hard to get over 24/25mpg cause CA traffic so bad. Only when I get way outside of the major metro areas and north of Sac. or out east of Barstow does the gas mileage go up though the mountains make it hard to get the mpg much higher until on the other side of Flagstaff. Too much up and down until then. (Coming the other way though it is all downhill (almost) from Flagstaff to Kingman and I can sometimes wring 28mpg or a bit more from the Turbo.)

I fill up gas tank and start engine, write down all the milage/fuel consumption into and then zero all the data. Doesn't take much idling or pootling around town for that mpg number to stay really low. Once on the freeway then it takes quite a few miles of relativel easy driving to get the number up.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Typical 18 to 19 mpg in combined city/highway driving here in Salt Lake City. Typical 26 to 27 on highways/freeways out West. Interesting fact: it seems the faster I set the cruise, the better mileage I get - hit 28 mpg once with the cruise set ... umm ... higher than it should have been by a good margin.

On the longest road course in North America, I get 9 mpg

Strangely, after replacing a radiator, new tires and getting the speed tech twin canister exhaust my gas mileage has increased from about 17.7 to 19.1.

Any guess what would have made such a difference?

Seasonal gas blend change or warmer weather and it is quite common for fuel economy to improve 10% or so.

I would not dismiss the tire pressures either. Not sure how religious you are about keeping an eye on the tire pressures but a few psi underinflated can noticably affect gas mileage.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Default better milage at higher speeds

I find my 2004 996 x50 Ruf gets its best mileage at 90mph with .1 boost on the gauge I see 27+ mpg, slow to 65 and it drops to the 23-25 range go figure, just that slight touch of boost really helps.
I also mix 6 gallons of 100 octane with the 91 available at the pump seems o really help with performance, must get the octane up to at east 93 to really run right.

When I picked her up wit hk24's, tune, fpr and exhaust I saw 30mpg on a trip from SC to NJ 80 mph. Now with twin 30r's I stopped looking I just fill it up. I think anywhere from 17-22mpg I am scared of what it'll be on the track with 2nd pump and 60 lb injectors .

I'm averaging 18.4 over the last 1500 miles according to the computer. This is about a 50/50 mix of highway and city driving. I get about 25 on the highway at 75.

Pretty good for a high performance car.

Don't know how many miles -- estimate I've covered over 1600 miles though -- but the last few days from CA to now NE across I-80 my 03 Turbo's gas mileage has been above 25mpg. For 40+ miles it was 31mpg coming down the freeway on the east side of the CA/NV state line. All downhill, of course.

Average speed has been 75mph or higher (in most areas the speed limit is 75mph with some exceptions).

These cars aren't bad on the gas considering the performance they can provide when asked to. And as I'm sure you know, the turbos make mountain driving painless compared to NA cars.

Sincerely,

Macster.
