Low to mid 50's. Closer to low 50's good for buyer, closer to mid 50's good for seller.

Where on earth are you guys getting these crazy prices from? Low 50's on that car - keep in mind 2004 turbo with 6000 miles currently has a KBB trade in value with base options at $59,600 in fair condition. That would mean low 50's would be below wholesale pricing on the car? The seller appears to have set the price at the private party price in excellent condition of $70K.

I searched for months for my car to find an excellent condition non-modified (not even those strange factory GIAC and PSS9's). I thought I scored with a 2003 with 20K miles and a warranty for $54K. When I still search I don't find anything with that mileage and the options it came with for less than mid to high 50's. There were plenty of 2001 year models in the high 30's low 40's and 2002's in the mid 40's to low 50's, but newer than that you were in the 50's and 60's.

KBB is not accurate on these cars and the prices you are seeing are asking prices (not selling prices) in the springtime.

As Danny said, you cannot use KBB or asking prices. I spent MONTHS looking for the perfect example so I am very well versed on what the market looks like. I even asked my local dealer that I have a very good relationship with. He concurred....low 50's is great for buyer, mid 50's is great for seller, and high 50's if CPO at a dealer.

KBB bases their prices on data of sales, so in theory it is reflecting actual sold prices, but I'll take your word on it. This just wasn't the case for me in California when looking during February and March of this year- at least not for 2003 and newer with low miles in stock form. As I mentioned there were plenty of 2001's in the low 40's, but every 2003 and new that I looked at was in the asking price of 50's and higher.

I don't see how they can base it off sales since private party transactions aren't sent in to KBB. Maybe they take the number of dealer sold cars and then use that as the sample to generalize back to the population? Still I don't agree that is how they do it. Nonetheless, it is what it is and it is NOT region dependent since buyers have the internet to utilize. My search was only bound by the pacific and atlantic

I don't know either? I used lots of national searches as well, but wanted a Cali car for several reasons - climate conditions and location to me. I think a car like the one listed could be found in the 50's no question, but it certainly would not be the norm. Just do a national search for what I did as an example and they are all in the 50's-60's. Anything below that starts to push higher than 35K miles or more or they are modified.

May be a good buy if you are a rat and looking for a home, oh wait, it already may be occupied.

Almost 9 years old. 255 miles per year.

I'm looking for a car to drive not drain the fluids and put in a museum.

NO THANKS

We are all over the place in this forum. In another thread, apparently a 1 year older car with less miles and X50 package is a good deal at only $5k less?
