I'm a little out of my field here guys. I'm a NA 993 guy....anyone know the broad interchange ability of a 2003 996 TT 6 speed trans.TIA

Interchange the trans into what? Are you asking if a TT tranny will work in another 911? If so, which year/make/model of 911? Are you asking if the tranny will interchange into another make? Are you asking if there are options to change the gearset in the TT tranny? Are you asking if you can put a 996 TT tranny from one car into another 996 TT? Are you asking if you can convert a Tiptronic TT into a manual TT?
Your question is really vague.

I was told, that it would be a easy conversion into a 993 car to achieve bettering gearing ratio's I always thought that they (996) were calbe shifted as opposed to rod shifted like a 993.....perhaps that an " easy" conversion are they talking the trans just bolting up...or perhaps using all the internals????? so the question is do the trans interchange or do all the internals useable or was I given bad information?

First off, typically any "turbo" from the 965 > 993TT, 996TT, 997TT AND RS and GT cars have the larger ring and pinion.
2nd The 996TT and 996GT2 owners are back dating the gearbox gearsets to the 993RS ratios.
The new 997GT2 gearbox does have more desirable gearsets, but cost is putting these selections on the back burner.
To rebuild and purchase the 993RS ratio's one has to buy a new mainshaft at $2,700 plus the gearset.
You are looking at a VERY expensive undertaking. The 996GT series of gearboxes have a build in oil pump and oil cooler which is very desirable.
FYI I just "helped" someone acquire a good used GT2 gearbox and the price was $8,500.. Typical prices are around $10 to 12K used right now.
The gearsets in the GT2 box is the same as the 996TT..

Kevin. Thanks for the info...... my 1st choice was to source a gearbox G50/31 from Porsche however NLA Porsche in Germany has no tranny's for a 993 other than G50/20 which is what I have...... I have sources a 2003 996 TT 6 speed....and from your post I can assume it has same gear set as a GT2 and would be interchangeable into my "case" ( housing) ? is that correct?

I have complete 996TT gearsets "guts" instock to sell if that's what you need/want.
I have a 6000 miles change out core/guts sitting.
And yes the GT2 is the same ratio/gearsets as the 996TT.
