Default Battery Charger/Maintainer

I need to buy a battery charger/maintainer for my 996TT. It's always in the garage. If you have one that you're not using, I'll buy it from you. Let me know please.
Thanks,
Michael.

You really don't need to buy a second hand one....go to Amazon and look at their "Battery Tender". Its a small unit that comes with three accessories...the cigarette lighter plug in, a wire collar that lets you attach it to the posts and hide the lead outside the car so you can plug in without lifting the hood, and the alligator clips.....great little unit and only about $40 IIRC. I've been using one for years. If you buy the one with the Porsche logo, it's $130 for the prestige.

I keep mine on the 930 all the time kuz I have a drain I cant' locate that kills the battery in about 5 days.

Geez Bill....was that a compliment? Not used to that from you, or did I just misread it?....

ELEVEN: He's looked till he's blue in the face....done all the pull-the-fuse protocols...hooked up a multimeter in series to the negative side of the battery....time for me to take it to a pro. When I bought it, it had the factory alarm with the key slot in the driver's door...but I never got a key....I think theproblem lies in the alarm system, but I'm leery about screwing with it and have it kill the engine. At least now it runs like a champ....so a battery tender is an easy fix....albeit not a permanent one. I know a lot of the guys who have the older 930s who have battery drain and keep the maintainers on them....but it does bug me kuz in five days it's dead and I have a brand new battery and a new alternator in it. Does this sound like a defensive statement? I think it is.

You can get the same thing in the Battery Tender Plus for $39.35 instead of the the $55 for that other one....a lot of us have bought this Tender Plus and it comes with all the accessories. Not knocking the other suggestion...just providing alternatives.

Hi,
You guys are great. Thanks for all the help. I just want to tell you that I found a deal on the OEM Porsche charge-o-matic for $45 and I didn't even blink.
Michael.

Out of curiosity...take a look at the back and tell us where it says that charger is made....China or Taiwan? I find it amazing how something as a simple Porsche sticker can change the quality and price of an article....so prove me wrong here.

Geez, calm down guys. I bought my Porsche brand trickle charger from my local dealer for $63.44; and I just checked it for manu. origin. Answer? Made in Germany. (Part # 980-611-981-00)

sorry for opening a long lost thread... question for you guys

I have a battery tender plus but don't want to go the cig adaptor route. clamp on terminals..

do you attach to the "jumper" posts in the rear or under the plastic cover for the battery itself in the front?

does it matter?

thanks!
