Know what you mean about scaring the passenger. More that once I've (briefly) floored the accelerator and I swear not only did the passenger stop talking, the passenger stopped breathing.

I agree completely. I took out a 996TT a few weeks ago. My son was sitting in the back. The salesman and I floored it a few times down a straight stretch. We drove around for an hour. Afterwards, my son got out and said "Dad, that's the first time I've been scared in a car." The acceleration was pretty amazing... I must say.
