Default 996 side intake splitter upgrade (like the 997 turbo)

Thinking about these air duct splitters. Anyone have any experience with either? Or have a better recommendation?

Why pay $300 for a small piece of plastic/fiber that has absolutly no impact on performance and with little cosmetic change?

I thought the intake looked a bit naked. This seems to fix that aesthetically.

They look Buck Rogers to me. If I had a 997tt, I'd want to go the other way...

The real techart version of these are like $695, so the reps seem to be a steal. I just put a set (of reps) on my car and like them a lot. Makes the side look a bit more finished, but i have a gt2 front and gt2 rear wing on as well.

Each to his/her own.

Keep in mind the 997tt 'opening' is significantly larger with a greater surface area than a 996tt. When you add that vane to a 996tt opening you reduce the SA and alter the airflow charcteristics. Not sure there is any benefit to doing so on a 996tt.

yes there are. an expensive mod since it requires alot of body work. also would need to change the brake lights to the 997 version, intercooler ducting and maybe the intercoolers as well. there is a guy who changed the outside of his 996 tt to a 997 tt. he took lots of pictures. i believe he posted the thread on the 996 forum. if you like the splitters go ahead and put them on.....

Good points.

There is no question that a possibility of less air to the intercoolers exists if the inlet is modified in any way.

There is also the possibility that the splitters would look "tacked on", degrading (IMO) the overall good looks of the Turbo.
