Pulling up an old thread, but

Is the 2002 turbo carbon trim actually carbon or just wrapped with a carbon print wrap?

The carbon is real in a 996, and it cracks, yellows, and pulls off the dash. I'd stay away from it...it is expensive to replace, even by replacing with aftermarket pieces.

Virtually every carbon interior 996 I've seen has damage to the carbon, sometimes a little, sometimes a bunch. It was prone to cracking, peeling, and yellowing. 997.1 wasn't much better. 997.2 I think started to get more durable carbon fiber bits...

Mine appears to be wrapped with some kind of carbon look wrap. It’s very well done, but the print is kind of cheesy looking.

My cf shift **** has held up well, but it doesn't get hit by the sun much.

All of my carbon was installed with aftermarket CF from MA Carbon. It has all held up quite well. No yellowing or cracking.

The CF on my steering wheel is cracked and discolored, CF on the emergency brake is discolored but in otherwise good condition, CF on the shifter is still in pretty good shape. Overall just really disappointed with how poorly it's held up. Worst part for me is that I don't even like CF interior trim to start with.

The cf on my steering wheel cracked. Center console has wear areas where the clear over the actual cf is worn through.

The carbon gets yellowed cause it's covered in a poly resin that's not UV stable. I remake the parts using a better cloth and epoxy resin for UV stability then re-cleared w/ auto 2k clear coat that will last forever.

OEM Carbon bits on mine have stood the test of time - no signs of wear / cracking / yellowing. Garage kept if that means anything.

XNX - Carbon dashboard trim
XNR - Carbon center air vent bracket
XPY - Carbon instrument surround
X69 - Carbon door entry guards with logo
X58 - Carbon handbrake lever
X47 - Carbon gear lever ****

X69 - Carbon door entry guards with logo

Personally I'm probably bucking the trend here but I'm not a fan of CF in interiors at all. My X50 had CF in it when I bought it (Not Factory) I took a heat gun to it and removed all of it except Stock CF steering wheel, Looks so much cleaner with just the fully wrapped leather interior
