Looking at several possible 996 purchases which have varying degrees of carbon fiber interior trim. Some have the wheel, console, door arm guard, speakers and the works.
My question is how does this trim hold up over the years with fading, cracking, etc. A previous hunt for 993's I found several which had cracks on the steering wheel and some yellowing in color. Has this been improved with the 996 trim.
As I recall wasn't a full CF interior like $8-10K new?
Thanks.

I believe sun is part of the enemy.
For what it's worth....a 01 with full carbon....and all has held up well except the piece that runs the full length of the dash under the windshield and curves down to meet right and left corner. That has rippled, curved, and popped up at ends.......I've used epoxy adhesive to help fix.....next will replace.

can't speak of the oem cf, but have great things to say about aftermarket from macarbon. oem appearance at a fraction of the cost. i've had mine for almost three years and no degradation what so ever.

I actually looked at a few cars with carbon fiber before I bought mine and they were not holding up well. It is a nice option, but only if you take care of it...
I have wood and while I like it, the glue is not holding it well. Will be covering it with vinyl in the near future!

I have full CF and all is well EXCEPT the part that goes around the inside of the windshied and the vent.
Both peeled and warped and have since been replaced with plain black pieces.
Everything else looks great.

My 2005 Turbo S has just a hint of carbon fiber trim: a couple of small pieces on the dash, the shift and hand brake, and a narrow band between the upper and lower dash leather. I like it; however, I think much more gets gaudy. I wanted a 993 Turbo S, but they're all full carbon fiber dash and it is ugly.
Mine is looking new at 4.5 years on the road. I have seen one with the trim on the outside air vents that was coming up and looked terrible. My advice: don't overdo this trim.
