Lewis-

It was my fault. I called BHM a moron first. It was a big misunderstanding. I apologized to BHM on 4 forums (993, 993 Turbo, 996, 996 Turbo) . Posts are around noonish today. We're all good now, though.

$55k for a first-year '6 Turbo? Seems like a lot.....

I didnt even bid - the prices were too high on everything from the start of the auction.

I'm more of a weekend 964 cab guy. I would have bought if it was a bargain.

wow...really that much for a '01 turbo with less then 4k miles is alot or too much?

Reason I ask, is 'cause a buddy picked up an 01 with 17k miles for about $45k and it got me thinking about looking into getting one.

In your opinion are the 01s loosing a lot of value more so than the 02-04s?

Generally $5k between years is typical.

So $55 for an 01 would put a 2004 with 4k miles at $70k,

It isn't that they are dropping 'faster'... it is pretty much uniform.

The wild card is the miles- sub 10k is rare. Sub 5k super rare. People that value that aspect will pay for the privilege... what is kind of unusual in this sale is that people that value low miles also tend to want later MYs...

My guess is that this was sold to someone that hasn't spent alot of time doing comparative values in the open market-

Not an an auction unless everyone who is bidding has not done comperative value IMO this reflects the TMV of the vehicle especially it is not an auto only auction limitted to dealers.

Well, the way auctions work is ALL it takes is ONE OTHER 'civilian' that MUST have THAT car to make the price go crazy.

All the pros in the audience just shake their heads and smile.

I'd also say that in general TMV on a 4000 mile car is very hard to determine. Certainly that was the TMV on that day, at that auction!

Agreed...same goes for retail ( finding the wright must have buyer). After all it is the buyer who always determine the price and the TMV....should be interesting what Excellence mag..will say should they become aware of the sale.
