PSI Rise In Track Tires
#16
Wow, that's high. I get 8 psi rise, front and rear, running 20 to 30 minutes track with my Turbo S (hollow spokes) and Kumho Ecstas. Yeah, yeah, Ecstas are street tires; until you've tried them on the track, expecially in the rain. I go from 32 to 40 in front and from 40 to 48 in the rear. That's summertime in the desert (MMP outside of SLC).

THis is all based on the ASSUMPTION that somehow "Nitrogen" = "No Moisture"
Why?
Yes, bottled, 99.998% 'technical pure' nitrogen is certified moisture free. Got it. That is what they use for jet aircraft, race cars.
The little nitrogen concentrators they use at tire stores are no more 'pure' in terms of moisture removal, that the air compressor sitting next to it.
It isn't the gas you put in that matters- it is the 'moisture free' nature of whatever gas you use.

(There is BIG money to be made selling folks on nitrogen, that's for sure)
From consumer reports:
" We also used an oxygen analyzer to be sure we had 95-percent nitrogen purity in the tire--the claimed purity limit of our nitrogen system, which generates nitrogen gas from ambient air."
Apparently 79% nitrogen is "bad" but 95% has all those magical properties....draw conclusions from that.
But to your question: It would be compelling and refreshing if the Porsche dealers all said "Oh, no - we buy special bottled 99.98% technical nitrogen for tires"
