Thanks for the info.
The last two Cabs I owned did not require any top maintenance (protectant) as they were still heavily beading water when I sold them (owned both Cabs less than 2 years).

just to clarify, its not necessary to do any of this, the roof will not leak.
it makes the roof look like new and its really nice having the water bead off, its purely for these reasons that people do this

"....I use a plastic drop sheet because it is thinner, and I insert it along the front edge of the roof from A-pillar to A-pillar while the roof is open. I also tuck it under the rear clamshell while it is partially open. The close the roof and most of the masking is done. Lower the windows, insert drop sheet over window tops, and close them. I usually have a little more masking to do, but this cuts most of the time."
Now why in the hell didn't I think of doing it this way.....I spend an inordinate amount of time with the painters tape and newspaper....thanks mucho for the great suggestion. Next top service is coming up shortly and I'll be using your suggestion.

thanks for the url above to www.autogeek.net. there are various Raggtopp cleaning kits/sprays available. any one in particular recommended? sorry for the stupid question, but fabric or vinyl? then there is the dual purpose fabric/vinyl offering too...

I ordered one spray bottle of cleaner, and two cans of protectant.
