Default Seeking scenic Colorado roads

If any Colorado guys have any suggestions for must do roads,, I would appreciate any suggestions. I am going to take a few days and escape the TX heat and head the old steed to Colorado for a few days of driving and sight seeing. Any suggestions for good drives ?
Thanks in advance

There are lots of good roads here, mostly in the mountains like wross suggested.
I think allot of this depends where and how long you want to go. You could spend literally days driving around the mountains and then exit out the west side towards Utah, or North towards Wyoming.

One of my favorite drives is coming from I25 south bound, take 24 towards Woodland park, then 82 through Aspen to Glenwood Springs, then 70 back towards Denver taking 9 towards Breckenridge to 24 back to the Springs. This is easily an all day trip as in leave at 0600, pulling in around 9-10pm.

Lots of stuff to see, lots of straights, twisties and elev changes. Plenty of places to stop for sights, food, gas and coffee :-)

Pending when you come this way, I might join up with you, I might know of a couple others than would be interested as well.

Guys,
I was thinking of this,, coming in from the south ( TX flatlander here ).
Do the 550 up to Montrose
Hwy 50 east to Salida
North on 24
At that point,, considering scenery and traffic,, should I go in to Leadville,, or head west toward Aspen?

I was leaning toward going in to Leadville, then on up to 70, head east for a bit and then turn back south , through Brackenridge, and head ??

Or should I head on up north a bit to the Rocky Moountain NP area?

I know you all have days and days of good roads to drive. I can spend about 4 days driving around and then will probably head back to TX.
It has been 104 plus every day now for over a month, so even a few days of cool mountain air will be a welcome relief.
I plan to be heading up through there next week from mid week through the weekend. Cant wait to see some mountain roads,, with the scary drop offs, no gaurd rails,, etc.

Highway 550 would be a hoot, from Durango over Molas and Coal Bank pass into Silverton. Then over Red Mtn pass, awesome road, down into Ouray, Ridgway ( I grew up there). Then up to Montrose. Now 50 E. to Salida would be pretty fun, there is Little cottonwood canyon just prior to blue mesa reservoir and Gunnison. Monarch Pass would be heaven in a 996t!!!! You could follow the Arkansas river into Salida or you could head up to Leadviille through Buena Vista. OR you could do Independence Pass into Aspen from just past Buena Vista. Hwy 9 from Dillion through Breck over that pass is cool. Loveland pass is awesome too, (Hwy 6, Dillion to just East of the Tunnel). Like wross said, Peak to Peak from Estes Park to Black Hawk / Central City are very nice roads. One of my all time favs on the R6 was Hwy 126 from 285 down into Pine then on to Deckers. The section of road from Pine to Deckers is some of the best pavement I have ever rode, and fast, very fast, there is a stright up there that you can hit close to 150-160 mph. Not much Law enforcement too. Rocky Mtn Nat. Park has some good roads, might get stuck behind a camper though! Ohh I almost forgot, Hwy 92 from Blue mesa Dam, (Hwy 50 east of Montrose) to Hotchkiss is a bitchin road too!! Never seen a cop on that road ever, hundereds of curves. From Hotchkiss you can take 133 over into Carbondale, beutiful country, Red stone castle etc. Then into Aspen or Glenwood. Speaking of Glenwood, Glenwood canyon on I-70 is a blast too!!! Hell there are so many good roads!!!, just get a map, give yourself a couple of days and have some fun. And if you have car trouble give us call here at Stevinson Imports in Denver, we'll take care of ya.

Sorry for late reply, Hope you still plan to come out.
I suggest the roads in SW Colorado, with Durango the starting point. You could do a bunch of 200 plus mile drives with Durango as base, as well as a bunch of local roads. PM me if you want more info.
Also, there are a few local guyswith early 911s as well as me (GT3RS) that are always ready for a run.
Good luck!
