Default Need help with 997 SSK installation

I'm replacing the OEM shifter on my 2004 996 TT with a 997 SSK.
I removed the console. I had to remove the hand brake in order to get the console out. Is it neccessary?
How do I disconnect the 2 cables from the shifter box to remove it?
How do I connect the cables to the new ****er box to install it?

Thanks again guys...
Michael.

You should not have to remove the hand brake. Go over to renntech.org there are a lot of detailed threads and diy info on the ssk.

You need to recline passenger seat all the way down, then pull the console towards that direction

Some guys also use the B and M SSK instructions which are available online from B and M as a download instruction sheet. exact same methodology....different manufacturer.
