Default PFC DISC Assemblies Pictures

The assemblies pictured are for a Nissan GTR. The Porsche assemblies will be exactly the same design.

Theoretically it still gives the benefit of gas venting from the surface of the rotor, while lowering the risk of fatigue cracks through the metal, as sometimes happens in cross-drilled designs (OEM).
This hasn't been proved, though.

Actually, "gassing" is a thing of the past for many pads. PFC in particular goes through extraordinary lengths to process gasses from the pads before you get them.

The main function of slots, holes, or dimples is to allow for the cleaning of the pad material and to provide additional bite. PFC will chose dimpling over slots on applications where the grip levels are such that you can attain all of your desired bite from your pad selection. The benefit is in significantly less pad wear vs. slots.

This is why you see many of the Grand Am Koni Challenge cars, club racers, and driving schools (such as Bondurant, Mid Ohio, etc.) running the PFC dimpled discs. Typically teams, organizations, and enthusiasts of this caliber will not make their buying decisions based soley on theory. While that may not be proof enough for some, it certainly brings a whole lot more validation than alot of the other options.

The rear hats are zinc nickel plated cast iron.

Thanks

mike, hows the zinc plating hold up? will it be prone to oxidation? most zinc plating I have seen have a tendancy to break down after reapeated heat cycles. would it be possible to order the hats in 6061/7071 hard anodized?

Hey everyone, PFC recently brought to market replacement Disc assemblies for the Nissan GT-R. The following thread has alot of very good information. While it's obvious we are talking two different manufacturers, I believe some pertinent similarities exist. (all wheel drive etc...)

PFC has this same hat material/plating for other applications. I have not heard f any problems.

Could someone explain the full-floating concept? What exactly does that mean?

Two Piece Direct Drive™
Patented Disc Technology explained

Ever since the disc brake was invented, vibration and pulsation caused by thermal explansion (warped rotors) has been a major issue. UNTIL NOW...

With Performance Friction's two piece floating Direct Drive™ V1 disc, the disc flange floats in the bobbin structure allowing radial and axial expansion of the disc without being constrained by the hub or the hat.

The benefits of this system include:

more efficient torque takeout
eliminates vibration and pulsation
reduces piston knock-back
improves control and release
reduces heat transfer to hub assembly
reduces drag and increases fuel mileage
reusable hat/hub assembly
longer life and lower cost per kilometre

AND NOW ... there's Direct Drive™ V2

The Result is ...

Performance Friction Brakes outperforms the competition by more efficiently distributing heat for lower lap times, longer life and improved driver control.

Thanks,

-Michael

Just to be clear, the proposed 996TT replacement discs will be V2 as pictured above.

Thanks,

-Michael
