Default GT2 vs 996tt exhaust difference

Hi. I am looking to purchase my first P car (after 3 Vettes, a Cobra replica, a 300 hp 240Z and a bunch of other fun stuff.) I found a 2002 996tt locally that is in my price range and in great shape. I drove the car, and it drives beatifully. If we get a little closer on the price, I will schedule a PPI. One question, though, the owner said it has a GT2 exhaust on it. The tips are the stock triangular tips and the exhaust is really quiet and sounds stock. Is there any real difference between the normal turbo exhaust and the GT2 exhaust?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, but the difference is almost of no consequence. The GT2 has a stock LOOKING exhaust with a slightly different internal baffle configuration. But both the stock 996TT exhaust and the stock GT2 exhaust are restrictive. Power will be gained with a replacement. I would put zero value on a GT2 exhaust as an upgrade or mod.

The TIPS are all interchangeable and you cannot tell a thing by the tips.

A

FYI, part numbers for each exhaust:

Stock 996TT 996.111.027.75
Stock GT2 996.111.987.72

What adam said, but what are triangular tips? I have seen oval and dual tips.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose these could be called oval tips. They are a little more squashed on the outboard side, which is why I called them triangular. In any case, they are definitely stock tips. Thanks again.

I recently purchased the B & B exhaust with headers, great sound, very aggressive. See the attached link, click on 996tt GT System Drive Off button mid way down on right. Noticed the increased HP, B & B claims 45HP increase??

Not blind, maybe can't read, that graph is for the 996 exhaust, the GTexhaust for the 996TT is estimated at 45, here is another link or call them?

Excuse me...show me in the first link any reference to 45hp. You must be smokin' something. If you read my post I said it was for the 996...I think Dan is just posting what he read...I do not see any dyno graphs. Seriously though 45hp for exhaust is very optimistic.

He no biggie, my first post said B & B claims 45HP increase??, I had the car chipped and cold air intake before exhaust, after exhaust a huge difference in power with incredible sound, tone screams at 5500 rpm and up? next comes turbo upgrade.
