60-130 results for my EPL K16/16g kit = 7 flat
Sorry for the cross-post, but I figured some of you would want to know about this:
So I was up at EPL swapping my 70mm Speedtech exhaust for their 60mm version and Tony happens to mention that they have a Driftbox just sitting around.
Once or twice a few of you guys have asked me to get a 60-130 time, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I'd just bumped down 10mm in exhaust piping (a bit quieter to appease the wife) and added about 10lbs in unsprung weight with some 15mm spacers for the rear so I was kicking myself thinking I should have run this pre-mods.
In any event I was able to get a few runs in. It took me a bit to dial in the run. I had some traction issues (it was nice and cold at 30 degrees) and played around with shift points. It seems that short shifting around 6200rpm to 4th gave me my best run.
I ran a 7.01 confirmed by Divexxtreme on 6 speed.
Mods were: EPL custom tune at 1.2 bar, K16/16g turbos with upgraded wastegates, DGI/Speedtech 60mm, 5 bar FPR, Bosch 710N DVs, Custom Clutchmasters Stage 3 clutch, 1/2 tank of 93 octane, full weight, AWD.
Thanks again to the folks at EPL. I really couldn't be any happier with my car. Now to throw some race gas in and break into the 6's!
Note: all testing was done on a closed course.

Wow......nobody on this site offered any congratulations at all. I don`t think that they like success.
After all the crap they gave you.....no praise? maybe their viagra prescriptions ran out?
Anyway, let me be the first on this site to say great job on a great time. 7 second flat is moving

To tell you the truth, I could care less about the praise, but I'm a little disappointed that the usual crew didn't care enough to make a few snide comments.
Come on, isn't someone going to allege that I must have found a particularly speedy batch of GPS satellites?

So please--go back and read what was actually said before getting on your high horse.Enjoy the result and get over what was said-- I stand by my comments of months ago and I am sure the others that raised issues also will.Look at it realistically-- right now if I made claims for a similar spec package that produced 100HP more than you have achieved you would want to know more/how/proof?
As an aside-- you now expect immediate comment--how long did it take for you to get supporting evidence from the time your first claims were made? Perhaps you did it the wrong way around-proof first then the claims-- problem would never have arisen.

Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll get over it and off my high horse as soon as possible!

Actually he got a ton of congatulations from a bunch of us already, on the other site...
Michael, that car flat rocks, and for the investment you have in it, you clearly win the "AFFORDABLE" supercar contest!
My guess is we're pretty close in performance, and that makes me very happy!

Although I hear what you're saying, and I actually went head to head with Tony and called him out on a couple of things, I gotta tell you, I also told him privately that if he was doing everything above board, then he (and michael) should hang tough and wait until they have the numbers to back it up.
The fact that the fans of other tuners haven't posted to congratulate his, and EPL's efforts says a lot about a lot...
YES I'm a "UMW" customer. Yes, I think I have a great product. YES, evolution happens and things change. This market is ever-changing. It's pretty simple. Competition breeds success and we, the consumer win in the end.
Congratulations to Michael on a STELLAR run with a solid package, and to ALL of the vendors involved in building such an affordable, cost effective package with what appears to be a very legitimate and above board process.

Congrats on an amazing time. The fact that you did get around to doing as requested is great to.The verification has substance-- unsupported assertions do not.

Mike I am trying not to labour on the negative but a couple of observations. I do not think there were too many other fans of other tuners here doing the questioning. If you read back( yeah I know) claims were made at what must have been a fairly early stage of development and questioned in a general sense. That was about it.It was the reaction to that -that is what gave the thread legs!
Correct me if I am wrong on this-- Tony and EPL were just about still in the closet when first posts were made?? Tony's wares and ability is now known far more widely.

Here's what I "THINK" happened...
They knew they were onto something up in Connecticut and had some things in the works. Just like others have done, sure maybe they let the cat out of the bag too soon. They got a bit defensive when challenged on a number of issues, and that's where I think it grew legs, sure!
But As I've seen behind the scenes many many times, some members were being prodded by others to do their "instegating". I think Tony got way to defensive, and we had a good old fashioned pissing contest on our hands.
Look who'se smiliing now?
Good for them, and even better for consumers. As I said before, Competition breeds better consumer products for us, the CUSTOMERs. It's kinda hard to argue with the success Michael has had. For less than $6K for the tune, hardware, and DGI exhaust, he has a 996TT logging 60-130MPH times of 7.01? WHAT A BARGAIN!
