Default Beat a 08' C5 Vette Last Night on a Private Runway

He has 430hp and mine y'all know has 415. The only time he beat me was when I missed a shift to 3rd once. Other than that I got him 8 out of 9 times. What a car.

I don't think i could beat a Z06 though unless I souped my car up. My porshe mechanic told me I could get 650 hp out of mine for about $10k (bigger turbos, beafier clutch, bigger intercoolers, chip, and exhaust work) .

Does that sound right? Also would it hurt the resale of my car if I souped er up?

Souped? Bill, yall showing your years..

So check out 6speedonline.com... it is THE place for modding information on these cars. There you should discover that who you use as "your Porsche Mechanic" will be a critical component of your pleasure or pain. There is a unique interplay between their skill, their philosophy/recommendations and what you wind up buying, that can make or break any particular mod path.

Is your car stock now?

First order is exhaust and flash. Diverter valves most likely since the stock ones will be subjected to more abuse. DVs will not add HP.

Past this you get into turbos. Depending on what you go with, you can get away with simply bigger turbos- no need for a clutch and intercoolers right away.

Yes, the clutch will be stressed- depending on how you drive it will need replacing sooner or later.

Almost whole hog, so to speak, and you are at bigger turbos, headers, more fuel (bigger fuel regulator) maybe intake.

"Whole hog" is a new motor with stronger components to handle more power.

With each of these steps you will need new software... so unless you know "I am going from A to B and will not go past", pick a vendor who can deliver all the steps you will be visiting.

I'll shy away from recommendations...there are hundreds of threads along the lines of "what mods are best, I have a stock turbo"... read and learn!

Yes, the new term is "hot rodded" , as in How many horsepower can you get out of a hot rodded 911TT?

I too was a bit surprised last year when I ran the mile run. I smoked many Z06's which all ran around 155-160. I ran a solid 170 with everything stock other than UMW flash and DV's. These cars are very fast indeed...

I thought that is what they were called isn't that right? The c5 is just the model like a zo6 it doesn't matter the year I don't think. Does it?

Not surprised at all. The C6 is likely faster with drag radials, as the problem is traction. He could have had 430 or 436, depending on which factory exhaust he has. I just sold my 08 three weeks ago in favor of an 04 Turbo X50 Cab.

You could be at my power level for around $10K...

Buy Christians UMW K16/24 Hybrid Turbos.

Buy UMW's tune and 5 bar FPR.

Buy UMW's clutch/pressureplate/flywheel kit.

Have it all installed!

Make over 500HP at the wheels...

Welcome to the club, dude!

Correct, big difference in HP for Z06 from a C5 to a C6. The new (05 +) C6 base car has more HP than a C5 Z06. The C6 Z06 is Fast.

Actually, the new term is "modded", as in modifications. It can be used as noun, adjective and verb: "I got many mods", "My car is highly modded", "I'm gonna mod the $#!@ outta my 996, dude!"
