Car shipping advice needed.
Guys,
I have purchased another P car that has been sitting in the state of Washington for 3 weeks, I have been having a hard time getting anyone who wants to take a car from WA to TX.. All the usual guys that we all know ( and like ) have declined to go that far off their usual routes to pick the car up for me.
So, after many calls, I have signed up with a company called Hog Haulers, they have some good refferences, via small high end car sellers, but, I would love to hear if anyone here has had any experience with these guys before I let them pick up my pristine classic air cooled turbo..
Thanks in advance

Tried both,, and neither wanted to go up to WA.. I was amazed at how few people even wanted to talk about shipping a car from there.. Now I am getting worried,,, Hog Haulers,, sounds like some kind of ranch animal transporter .." OINK"
I did get a quote from Fed EX,, but their price reflected the fact that they realy did not want to go that far north.

Have you tried Intercity lines? I picked my car up from Washington and could of had Intercity bring it back for me but decided to drive it home instead. Intercity was willing to go though. As I recall was about $1500 for the trip.
OR...I could drive it back to Las Vegas for you and you come here and take it on home or have it picked up from here.

Did you buy from a dealer or a private party?
Just wondering, since dealers undoubtedly have experience with this type of thing. Did you get any suggestions from the seller?
FWIW, I could ask my sales guy at Barrier Porsche (Bellevue, WA) about Hog Haulers or if he has anyone he'd recommend. I'll give him a call tomorrow.

The seller actually had a private car hauler who was scheduled to bring the car via a single car enclosed hauler, but after weeks of waiting I amjust out of patience. I did try all the usual guys, Intercity, Desmoines, Horseless Carriage, and a few others,, just seems it is too far off the beaten path to interest these guys. So, Hog Haulers it is,, paid my 200.00 deposit and have them on schedule,, fingers crossed,, and am hoping that they will take care of the old girl and treat her with the respect she deserves. I have had nothing but great experiences with haulers in the past, and am going to remain positive that this will also be a great experience as well .
It is going to be good to have another air cooled Turbo back in the stable,, for those times when you really want a thrill !!

I just spoke to my Porsche sales guy
Barrier Porsche in Bellevue Washington uses Calkins Auto Transport - they're out of Salem Oregon.
Calkins Auto Transport Inc. (503) 763-6688
www.calkinstransport.com (not too much there unfortunately)
My contact said they've had some "nightmare experiences" with other shippers and so they're pretty picky about who they use. He didn't know anything about Hog Haulers.
Anyway, good luck with the shipment and congratulations on the find!

Have you tried calling the local P-Dealer and asking them (or your local guys to call them for you) for a reference - see if a local Washington truck will deliver it to a Cali dealership (where it can he inspected again) and then have someone you trust and know pick it up there??

Just over two weeks. The car sat in seattle waiting for it's ride for the majority of the time. Once it was loaded up in made it to Va (terminal is in Manasas) in 4 days. You can track the car on their website and see excactly where it is (kinda nice).
