Question Question about HRE Wheels....Please Help!

I bought a 996tt with a set of HRE wheels and you need a valve stem extension to fill and check tire pressure. the ones i bought from the local auto store don't seal right when you are checking the pressure or filling the tire. Any suggestions on where to buy a quality valve stem extension online?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Also does anyone here have HRE's and experience the car shaking when driving in rain. I had heard that water gets trapped in the lip and throws off the balance but would have thought HRE would have engineered around that.

In regards to the vibration in the rain if you have a reversr lip design (flat lip) this will occur with HRE or pretty much any company that produces a wheel with this lip design. I don't think anyone has come up with a solution.

The solution is to buy one that doesn't have the reverse lip design...rather a simplistic and probably unacceptable solution for most folks who buy the wheel for esthetics...but I bought the CCW wheel and they design their so this rain induced problem doesn't occur. I would encourage potential buyers to specifically ask about the reverse lip issue before they lay out $5000 or more for a set of wheels.....but of course if you read the for sale ads, there are hundreds of cars out there that have....."never been driven in the rain"....so there's your solution. Drive dry. Personally, I drive in whatever weather happens to be around at the time.

It rains a lot in Miami so I think ill be selling these wheels pretty soon. Its unfortunate that there is not a fix for this. I was driving 65mph the other day in the rain and it was a pretty scary feeling.

Thanks for the Info!

I have yet to experience the phenomenon....3rd year on these, so I'd suggest some reverse drop fitments may be more prone than others.

HRE will shoot you some extensions......I carry a handful.....screw them on ea wheel, check all 4, take em off.

Call HRE they have a solution to fix the rain vibration problem. Also while you are on the phone with them ask for the valve stem extension they will supply you with on.

We have installed plenty of those wheels and installed the parts to correct the rain vibration. It works perfect.

HRE seems to be the only wheel I hear about that issue, one of the main reasons I went elsewhere.

I had the same problem with my HRE wheels on my S4 Audi bad vibration in the rain. it is the reverse lip design. I talked several times to HRE. They sent me a free set of small metal blades, two for each weel which you attach inside the wheel to one of the bolts. My car use to start to vibrate at about 57mph. With the blades the vibration did not start to 65 mph. Still unacceptable and there is no further fix.

Now for your air pressure issue you need to buy a small tank comprsssor with a pressure nozzle (you hold it on manually it does not lock on) This way you do not even need the valve extension since the pressure fit pump nozzle will work no problem.

Knowing what I know now I would not by an HRE wheel with a reverse lip design. THey are nice and light but a pain in the ***.
