Statman - any chance you have a copy of the page of the actual Porsche factory book that you could send me? I guess it cant hurt to have it if the dealer tries to give me "it is perfectly normal" treatment.

Maybe that's what Porsche puts in the manual....but that seems like an inordinately lot of oil to eat for 600 miles.....where in the hell is it going? Past the rings, valve guides? They don't smoke or drip....so where is it going? What about going to the 5W-50 and raise the viscosity a bit. That weight is an approved Porsche oil in the Mobil 1, yet the 5 is still low enough to get oil to the nooks and crannies.

Just FYI to all.
Guess what you get out of Google when you enter "Convert 1 liter/1000 km to miles per quart"
Try it:

Still, I prefer the old fashioned way... (pretty soon nobody will have a brain....)

Adam: It's too damn late....I've run into a bunch of folks that already have vacuum leaks in their skulls....There are tribes of Neanderthal springing up everywhere. A lot of them are in politics.

I was worried about the oil consumption when I first bought the car in May with 50K miles on it and its a 2004...obviously used as a daily driver. Maybe that is why they (dealers) say the DDs are in better condition than the p-cars that sit for longer periods of time? I also use it as a DD.

Actually, I get that or better. I added 3/4 qt. about 5000 miles after the last oil change. I stopped tracking it after the first six months I had it 'cause it never changed. My engine is a little different: When I bought it with 35,000 miles on it two years ago, I talk with the mechanic. He said when the car came in, he didn't like the sound of the engine top end, so he dropped the engine and rebuilt the top end. Nice. Must have done a good job.

Every hear the old saying...."Oh ye of little faith"?? I have a really difficult time accepting the fact a TT can go 5000 miles with little or no oil consumption.....It's just not in the nature of the beast.

I'm at 5,200 miles since the last oil change, I added 3/4 qt at 4,000 to bring it up to 1 bar down from max. Looks good for now, I'll prob change the oil at 6k.
26.5k total miles, daily driver.
The above includes 1 Chin track day, driving style typically change below 5500 rpm when driving hard.
I strongly believe the cars don't like sitting around.
