OK, got the Durametric diag tool... No faults or codes in the system.

Type 1s are so easy to get... that first gear in our car is so short... That DE at Sebring, my first DE (the one where Tom K. was even telling me to shift because under all the sensory overload I even forgot to shift....) should explain most of the type 1s... Doing the calculation of how long ago the Type 2 occured, I am thinking that during the braking and down shifting for the turns at Sebrings I could have done the type 2s...

Let's see...I can trace every thing related to the car including ownership/registration information...I.E., I know where you live and that you have a turbo....just don't want that information out there for public consumption....

It's unfortunate this day and age but the Statman is right. Just too many freaks in this world. Wonder when darwin will take over and relieve the rest of us. Just edit the photo and white out the VIN part.

can someone explain briefly the number of ignitions?? i know what the type 1 and 2 are though. type 1 is when the speed limiter kicks in and type 2 represents over revs due to down shifting into lower gears while traveling at high speeds...is this correct. the number after the ignitions is the time in which they occured..correct??

Number of ignitions range 2: This value is displayed in two parts. For example 65 / 1928h: the first value is the number of individual spark ignitions above the rev limiter the second value is the operating hours of the last time the rev limiter was exceeded. In this example there have been 65 ignitions above the rev limiter the last time it occurred was at 1928 hours.
Ignitions are cumulative, for the life of the control module. Every time the rev limiter is used the values are incremented until they reach the maximum stored value of 65535. Once 65535 is reached the value will always read 65535 regardless of how many time the rev limiter is used.
The car has a total of 1959 hours of operations.

That is the number of sparks that occured in cyclinders over the rev limiter value. If the car is at 6500 RPM's (108.XX rotations per second) and each rotation has presumably 6 sparks (6 cylinders) then you could have hundreds occur in a single "incident" of just a second as 1 second of over rev would produce about 700 ignitions.

Hey guys, one of the checklist items when inspecting a 996tt is to check the second gear pop out. How can I determine the transmission number to see if I need to check that? Looks like the diag info does not have it...
