Interesting you got that much out of the service manager. They may have passed on the CPO, but someone else might not....

Stories are piling up... pass.

Yep too many "things" that sound not so correct. I'd keep on looking.

I went to the dealer and saw for myself what they were talking about. The front passenger side radiator is metallic (photo attached) while the driver side is flat black. I imagine that the car was either in an accident or the radiator needed to be replaced at one point.

While they had the car on the lift I also saw some 1/4" size nicks on the lowest point on the engine (sorry no pics). Is that normal wear and tear?

BTW - what is that small round thing on the grill? There are wires that run behind it. There isn't one on the driver side.

I live in central Phoenix and have a 2001 turbo, 40,300 miles, Evoms GT-610 kit installed about 2500 miles ago, PSS10's, adjustable rear sway bar, SSK, 19" Champion wheels, and so on. I have it listed locally on cars.com. For not much more than the one at the Hyudai dealer (?) I could get you a lot more car.

Default In conclusion...

I figured that it wouldn't hurt to have a PPI done to at least start building a relationship with a local indie. So, I had the car brought to Redline Motorsports in Tempe, AZ.

I got a call from Robert at Redline and he tells me that the front and rear bumpers of the car have been repainted, along with the entire right side of the car. All new right front suspension, new right front fender, new subframe.

We ended up stopping right there and I was only charged for a partial PPI.

So the search continues!

I thought it looked good too - contacted the owner who said he thinks it's already sold.

Yeah, I think its sold. A nice guy in NY had it PPI'd here in Phoenix at the Porsche dealer yesterday and we are moving forward with the sale. In the event that it falls through I will post a thread. I think he's getting a smoking deal on a clean and VERY FAST car. In fact, I wonder if I really want to be giving up this car. I may wonder why I did it in a few months (days?) but I can't seem to keep anything (save my 1988 Carrera and my wife) for more than a year. I met the OP and he looked at/drove my car. Also a very nice guy. I think he liked it but was reluctant to buy a black/black car living in Phoenix. Understandable.

Now, what next for me???? I'm thinking of picking up a cheap daily and going to a 930 for the track. As much as I like the power and functionality of the 996 tt, it doesn't have the same sex-appeal for me as the early widebody turbos. Would be fun if some Rennlisters would chime in on fun suggestions.

A 930 as a track car....That's nuts. I had a slantnose 930 and nearly totaled it at least a half dozen times. Power is NOT linear in the least. It's like a big slow pig until around 3500 RPM then BAM which by the way is normally half way through a turn. Tracking that car would be entertaining at the very least.

Post the VIN in this thread so it comes up on google if someone else looks. Scumbag dealers now KNOW it had major damage, and will still sell it as "No accidents, Clean Carfax"

Edit: VIN WP0AB29932S685887

Clean carfax.... shocking, eh?
