Default Hood emblem came off!

Was giving the car a little rinse yesterday at a wand wash and when I sprayed the hood, the emblem flew off! I didn't even have the water jet that close to the car. So weird.

At any rate, better it happen there than on the highway.

So I'm left with an emblem that needs re-attaching. What is the best adhesive to use for this?

Epoxy? Silicone? Duct tape? chewing gum?...

Thanks in advance!

The hood emblem has 2 screws protruding from the back. It is attached locking nuts.

No adhesive is used.

You simply need to purchase 2 new 'press on speed nuts' which attach to the 2 bosses which are part of the hood emblem.
My guess is that at one point, someone removed the hood emblem and re-used them, rather than replace them.....they are (recommended) one time use items.

Your dealer or Sunset Imports

I'm sure there are other places as well.

most any hardware store like HomeDepot would have them. You could also bend the tabs back down on the old ones and they might still work ok.

I lost a couple hood emblem on the track. saw it fly off like a leaf flying off my hood, gone bye bye... I found one and bending tabs wouldn't have worked as the post had broken off at the base of the emblem. bending posts would have weaken the posts even more.

Oak, I think he means bending the tabs of the "speed nuts" not the posts coming off the badge. Of course if there are no posts on the back of the badge, you have no choice.

I think that the actual posts have broken off. There are two little 'nubs' protruding on the hood and the emblem itself has nothing attached to it.

I'll take some pictures this afternoon and post them up so it's a bit more clear.

Does this mean that I have to get a new emblem?

Yes.
Might be an opportunity to try and snag one of the 'getting harder to fnd thanks to Porsche and their lawyers' silver hood crests.

OK, you can see in this pic the components....the back of the badge (with two posts), the rubber gasket, and the speed nuts (2).

Don't forget to mention how much 'fun' it is trying to get the hood badge to sit properly in the rubber base gasket

Thanks for posting this pic!!

The posts are no longer on my emblem - Not sure if they are built right in to the emblem itself (in which case they have snapped off) or if they're just epoxy'ed (in which case they have, er, snapped off, too).

When I get home from the office I'll post the pics I took this afternoon, but it looks like I'll need to get a whole new emblem.
