Default GT3 seats - headroom

Does a GT3 seat provide more headroom for the driver versus the OEM standard seat? I need to sit lower in the car (I drive with the OEM seat full down). Maybe the GT3 seat would provide a lower sitting position. Anybody know?

Yes, I believe you will sit lower. You need to sit in one...I for one love them.

doc..the recarro's sport seats also sits much lower. i would love to get the gt3 seats, but unfornunately my rear does not allow me. also the recarrol's come with adjustable back rest and lumbar support which is great, especially on long trips.

Dock dont you remember the drive in my car?? It has the GT3 seats and you seemed quite comfortable.
The seats are lower than the lowest stock seat height, and I drive at the track without the pads (velcro) and you feel like you are sitting on the floor board.
I think if you got them and put a thinner pad in you would really be as low as you could go?

Yes, I remember driving your car, and I remember your GT3 seats. What I didn't really pay attention to (unfortunately) was where the seat was (vertically) versus my OEM seats.

another option is to bolt the seat rails to the floor with no runner - get another ~1". I had this done. Just need to be there when the are picking fore-aft and rake settings. Like t Kerr, I ride on the track without pads, and have LOTS of head room. This is on my DD

Default Good option to lower GT3 seats

After installing the GT3 seats, I found that my head hit the roof with a helmet on. (I am 6' 1" tall. )

I used the Brey Krause seat mount brackets to lower the drivers seat 1". My driving position is perfect now.

Here is a link to the bracket:

My goal is not to generate room for wearing a helmet...my goal is to be able to see the tach if I install a thicker steering wheel.

Right now I have the OEM "skinny" steering wheel, and even with the seat full down (where I position it when I'm driving) I still can't see the 3000-5000 range on the tach without dropping my head from the normal upright driving position. A thicker steering wheel would make the situation even worse. If I can get an additional inch (or better) lower via the GT3 seats, I can probably ditch the wimpy steering wheel.

Your original question was....
Does a GT3 seat provide more headroom for the driver versus the OEM standard seat?
I have the GT3 seats and the thick FVD steering wheel....no problemo.

If I have more headroom with GT3 seats, it's because I'd be sitting lower in the car. If I sit lower (more headroom), then I can see the tach with a thicker steering wheel.
