Default X50 exhaust

Is the X50 stock exhaust ('03) different from the standard turbo stock exhaust. I bought a Europipe loud from Kevin and Im so happy with it I want to sell my stocker. Any advice on what I should ask for it would also be welcome.
thanks.

Rick, while Porsche does offer different part numbers for the exhaust system. The Only thing that I have noticed between the non X50/GT2 and X50/GT2 system is a larger opening of the clam shell diffuser. And that isn't a for sure thing as fact versus a production/tooling or manufacturing change.

But back to your question, the value of these exhaust systems and I have about 12 of them stored, is when one gets into a accident, or selling the car. As a good deal one can pay around $500 for a system and even cheaper if the owner just wants to get it out of his garage. If a body shop or Porsche shop needs one to repair a damaged muffler, or bad CAT the cost goes past a grand..

What is a clam shell difuser. I am about to purchase an exhaust for my X50 and don't want to have it and have a problem putting it on the car.

SO will a nonX50 exhaust fit an X50 car?

I'm fairly positive they'll fit. I recently installed a Europipe system and didn't think to specify that it was an X50 and it fit just fine. I went to the Europipe website in researching your question....and see that they just advertise their exhaust system for the 996TT....no different fitment specified for an X50.

The 996TT exhausts are interchangeable.

New over here. Just listed my 1996 Carrera coupe for sale and about to buy an '05 Turbo S. It doesn't look like anyone has problems with the Turbo X50, generally. Anyone have the "S" and the PCCB brakes that go with it?

General 996 question: anyone having problems with the cabriolet top? I'm looking at both an '05 Turbo S coupe and an '05 Turbo S Cabriolet. I did notice that the $10,000 price difference when new seems to have vanished by the time the cars are three years old ...

Okay, guys, I know I'm . But, I want to add my .02 in response to Designer Genes' question.

Hi Designer Genes,

Going for the Turbo S, huh? Good for you!

IMHO, whether you should get a Turbo S Coupe or a Turbo S Cab depends on what you intend to use the car for. For example, if you plan to track the car a lot, the coupe is a better choice in terms of stability, handling, and safety (rollover protection). Plus, it has lots of mod potential. OTOH, if you're aiming for a sporty look with gobs of power on tap for the occasional pavement ripper, then the Cab would be a better choice.

Btw, I used to have an '03 C4 Cab. After about a year, the seals on the soft top needed to be replaced. Four weeks later and the seals still had not arrived. So, I traded the Cab for a 996TT Coupe. Never looked back.

Bottom line is that both the Turbo S Coupe and Turbo S Cab are great cars. And which one is best for you depends on how you plan to use the car. Let us know how you make out. Send pics too.
