Obviously the last four digits are different. Only thing I can figure is that one might be OEM....which is Original Equipment Manufacturer....not necessarily Porsche pads....OEM just meets the specs set by Porsche. I found that the cheaper pads squealed when I bought a set (not saying these will do that) that weren't original Porsche pads trying to save some money. I sent them back and bought the more expensive ones.

Try the cheaper ones, if they don't squeal, then you mihgt be ok.

had the same problem with noise when I used to buy cheaper pads for my 964. they used to squeal...

for that problem I used as well anti-squeal pads which they were holdind the pad away from the disc when the piston caliper was released...

proble was solved very very cheap...

do not know if your will squeal...or if they do ( I am not saying thay will) there will be antisqueal pads for your car.....

I would but the cheap ones to have a look...

Harris,
I have not removed my brake pads yet, are you saying the factory stock setup does not incorporate the anti-squeal pads as you have shown?

Drh,

they do incorporate the pads...
but why would you want to use the pads with stock pads?

The anti-squeal pads are already in the brake caliper. The first time that you change the pad, you will have to peel back the anti-squeal pads from the actual brake pad. You do this with a paint scrapper.

I may be wrong but I would guess that Pelican sells two types of pads for the 996TT. The first pad mentioned is an aftermarket pad made by Mintex. The part number listed is not a Porsche part number, but rather a Pelican part number. The second pad listed is the Porsche OEM Pad, the same that you would buy at a dealership.

The small items shown in the phot posted are "anti squeel" shims. These are Porsche OEM parts, the same as at the dealership. Your car comes from the factory with these in place. If I remember correctly they are not cheap. They have a pronged spring on one side that fits into the recesses of your caliper pistons. The other side has adhesive that sticks to the back of the pads. The procedure is to install them in the pistons, and drop the pads in place. When you apply the brake, the pistons will push them against the back of the new pads.

Removing the pads with these in place is a PITA.

As I routinely change pads for track days, I've thrown these away and never looked back.

Cheers,
