You did more than just ask how people pronounce "Porsche", you admitted that you intentionally mispronounce "Porsche".

Even though the "correct" way is Porsha, I have always pronounced it porsh. Don't think I could ever say it another way. I'm wrong.

This is fun! How do you pronounce Ruf?
Is RUF as in the sound a dog makes OR is it RUF as in whats on top of your house. I have always pronounced it as the sound a dog makes but others disagreed with me....

As far as knowing I say it wrong, I do know and guess I accept that I do and that's that. I still think Porsh is an acceptable alternative. Rough (Ruf) however, is not.

How do you guys pronounce New Orleans? Probably not the same as the families who have lived there for generations and who, arguably, pronounce it "correctly".

What caused this to hit home for me, a sheltered midwestern boy who moved to CA, was asking servers in Chinese restaurants how to pronounce Tsing Tao beer (I'd never heard of that brand while living in Wisconsin). I thought a native Chinese speaker would show me the way of true pronunciation. Welllll, every server I've ever had pronounces Tsing Tao differently. Which one is correct? All of them, I guess.

Webster's offers several ways to pronounce "New Orleans", while on the other hand, the Porsche family offers only one way to pronounce their family name...

My bet is that since they are German, and speak German, they use the German word "Deutschland" to identify their country. If they were speaking English, I bet they would use the English word for Deutschland...which is "Germany".

The English word for porsha is porsh. I think this is the point the guys are trying to get across.
Now let's give this a rest and focus instead on persuading a Rennlister to buy my porch.

I'd like to pronounce it Porsh-a, unfortunately I have to pronounce it Porsh otherwise I run the risk of coming off like some arrogant *****.
