If they won't I would buy the new reservoir (997.314.920.30) from Sunset Imports and have an independent shop do the installation.
Oh well. I figure I'm out $900 now... be nice if I wasn't, though!

FYI, turned out to be some sort of belt rubbing inside... $560 P&L. Guess I got lucky!*
