Default Cracks in drilled brake rotors

Anyone knows what is the official deal here? I have 3mm cracks extending from each hole on my front brake rotors. I have been told they must not extend over 5mm otherwise all is fine or if the 2 holes meet or extend to the outer rotor edge to immediately change rotors. Now I have also been told as you put new rotors on the car you will have cracks within 5000 miles so not to panic when you see cracks in drilled rotors.

What do you say guys. When is it time for new rotors?

If you track the car, swap those out... If not, you'll deal with rotors that shudder... Drilled rotors are more bling in my opinion and I'd LOVE to have a set of solids for track use... Anyone know if there's a source for them??? The cheese graters are ok for street use, but rotors are a major consumable for us track day guys...

Before purchasing my tt I was contemplating buying an 04 GT3. The indy performing the PPI called me in and showed me thall FOUR rotors had the condition you described above. There were cracks in the rotor that extended from drilled hole to drilled hole. Indy told me it is a typical occurance to cars that are tracked. Recommended replacement of all four.

Scott Finelly. He has his own shop and is located in South Miami Florida. You can see his shop from US 1 on the north side. He is just west of 57 Avnue.
