Default My 2001 996 turbo radio is horrible

I know, I know I shouldn't be listening to the radio, i should roll down the windows and listen to the engine. When i'm on the hwy, i only listen to am talk radio. i can hardly get any staions. i brought it in to the local radio guy and he said the the antennae is tiny and the only real choice i had was to spend $1k plus to get a new tuner, hd radio, etc.
any ideas or suggestions??
thx

I have an 01 and I agree that the radio is horrible. I found that installing an old school Fabspeed exhaust makes me forget that the car has a radio. I can listen to music after I let the turbos cool down.

Actually, the radio is so bad, I believe it will be worth something on ebay in a few years for collectors of complete and total garbage.

I have no issues with my stock radio....other than not having a good IPOD interface. But that's a different story

Slant, have you talked to Eric at bumperPlugs- They finally have the iPod interface sorted, we have installed a few now and with the updates- They work great.

Default IPOD Interface

I have spent the last two nights searching this forum and elsewhere to find whether there is a way of connecting an IPOD to the factory stereo in a 996TT. I have the 6 disc changer and Navigation system in my recently purchased 2002 coupe. I'm also curious about adding satellite radio and/or integrating my phone into this system. Does anyone know whether it is possible to do these things without upgrading or replacing the factory units. I'm planning on taking to a professional but wanted to know if it's possible before going further. I have to believe that someone has this figured out already since I'm talking about a 2002 MY. thanks.

I did talk to Eric a while back (about 2 months ago) about the interface. The ICE link is made only for the 2003+ MOST systems. Mine is a 2002 so I'm stuck with an interface that is less than ideal (IMO). I want something I can control from the head unit and have the IPOD charging, etc... To my knowledge there is nothing like that for anything other than 2003+ model years

If something has changed in that regard boy I'll tell you I'm all ears
