Do not miss understand me I do love all Pcars. I was told yesterday by a very reputable Pcar mechanic that the 996 just is NOT built as well as the 993. Do you guys agree or disagree, I know opinions are like a$$ holes everyone has one, is there more probs with these 996's over 993's for well cared for TT's?

The 993 is the last of the air-cooled cars, and the 993TT is the cream of the crop. That and only that is the reason for the slightly increased price, or should we say "retained value." It is no more a Porsche than the earlier turbos, but it is the last one made.

Quality of construction encompasses 2 unrelated components, design and build. A huge part of quality is designed-in. Quality of design limits parts failure, assembly error, etc.
I think the German cars of the late 90"s required many more man hours to build, but that doesn't necessarily say they will be more trouble-free in the long run. The lamp assembly on the 996 is much more complicated, as it encompases so many functions, but it goes in as one unit, minimizing the number of possible problems. On board monitoring, service intervals, and assembly seem better to me in the later cars. The exception was the Cayanne, with all of it's electric gremlins. AS

I love my 996 and believe it is a well built car...But something went wrong at Porsche when they designed the fuel pumps for our cars....Too many fail, and leave drivers stranded.
