Default Can I swap ECU from a car to the other

Hello,

My car has the gac chip in it. It's an 03 TT. If you buy the car I have an eye on (02 TT), can i transfer my chip to the 02 ? If that is possible, what exactly must be tranfered ?

Thanks

You cannot transfer/swap ECU's from car to car.

You have to change the embolizer/program codes and I can do that. You will also need to swap VINs. Although the ECU will run with only the program code changed and the embolizer.

If you are wanting to switch the program over to another ECU that is a little harder. If it is GIAC no you can not do it. Some of the others can be swaped, then the program and embolizer codes changed. The key is having a program that will extact the codes. The PIWIS will not do it and it takes another way. The dealers typically can call a vin in and get those codes. So either you need to find oneone that can do it or a dealer willing to provide the numbers. Then buy an extra ECU program it and so on.
