Boost problems
I recently noticed that I am having problems going over .7 bar of boost. My car is a stock 996tt and today when I was accelerating for a minute the boost gage did not go over .07. It went from .02 to .07 then stabilized at .06 at full throttle. I have read that their are problems with the stock intake hoses and to get silicone ones. Could this be the fix or at 31,000 miles could my turbos be worn out?

doubt your turbos are worn out. if car completely stock first guess would be the diverter valves. also could be boost hose leaks or waste gate problems.
time to take her in!!
let us know, good luck

Is your car an X50? If not the figures yousay are perfectly normal for the lower temperatures of this time of the year, I saw a reduction in 0.1bar with the low temp.

Boost problems
My car is a stock 996tt not the x50. I was not aware that in the winter the car has less boost. I did look at my hoses and saw one that was not completely in the manifold. I have attached 2 pics one of the hose that i tried to push in and it did not move at all. The other pic is another hose that looks normal at the fitting. Do these pics look normal?

Jeff the first picture that you have shown is your main coolant hose located on the right side near your power steering pump. Is that coolant fluid leaking? It doesn't look like it is seated correctly. Please realize that there is a oring inside that must also seat. IF you cannot force the hose to seat, you have debris in the way. You have to remove the hose and also replace the oring. If this hose lets loose you will overheat your engine..
The second is your boost hose entering your "Y" pipe. it looks fine.
It sounds like your bypass valves could be failing.

Re: Boost problems
Kevin, you are right the hose that I took a pic of was a coolant hose. Thank God I did not disconnect it when the car was hot, ouch that would of hurt. I will let you know what the dealership finds. Thanks

One decimal place bar reading on boost

Can anyone explain?? Also, I get only momentary boost to .4 then back to 0. I just changed diverter valves. Is N75 valve next best guess??

Huh? The boost gage only displays one decimal point. You need to get codes read first and then report those back here. Most likely a boost leak (perhaps the DVs were installed improperly or you knocked a hose loose in the attempt.

Recent ppi showed no codes, Dv's change did not change .03 bar momentary spikes at most. I'm thinking next is k64 waste gate valve since it is supposedly much cheaper and easier than Dv's were. Thanks

How much is durametric. Is it going to better than $250 computer that Autozone wanted to sell me? You don't think I should go ahead and change out n75 waste gate valve. Thanks

I'd make sure you are sure you actually have a problem before you start fixing things. If you are seeing .7 bars on the boost gauge, that is well within normal for a stock 996tt. You would likely only see .8 at altitudes above 5000 ft. I never saw .8 on mine before the tune. That said, your coolant hose does look a little wonky. You might make sure that is okay.
If you want more boost call Kevin.

durametric is made specifically for Porsches and will give you all the information that the ecu can. Not sure about the autozone computer, but rather than take a chance I'd go with the Durametic software. Plus it's updated often and it seems many on the boards use it so you are more likely to be able to get help.
