Cool

Ryan Shankar - 30 years old - AKA "Shank" - an alias the NYU peers has given me, as I used to come to school with a long leather trench coat and sunglasses, much like John Shaft. Hence, http://www.rshankar.com

I'm Co-founder, SVP of Strategy, of a mid sized Wireless Web Development firm, specializing in extending corporate functions outside the four walls. Recently sold the company, and fighting stress by working out and driving fast.

Looking to invest in something new outside of I.T. - Andreas, might be knocking on your door - was looking into Real Estate, which I know nothing about! HELP!

Hobbys include Flash web design, graphic design, Tennis, Pen & Ink drawing, and CARS.

My name is Steve, a 57 year old patent attorney with a large law firm in Washington, DC. I have a terrific wife plus seven children (four ranging 18 months - 6 years and three grown -- having four children about the ages of my own (adopted) young children). My obsession is Porsches, I drive aggressively but don't race, I wash, polish and admire. I've had: 85 C2 cab., 91 C4 cab., 98 C2 cab, 2000 C4 Millenium and 02 996 tt. Still have the last two. Very much enjoying this forum.

Jean-Pierre is my name, I am 39 years old, a belgian living in France, have a beautiful girl friend who is crazy about cars too. I am a real estate broker in South France (Cannes, Nice, Monaco area). I own several cars like Mercedes E55 AMG, SL 73 AMG, BMW M3 Cab E46 and a Ferrari 550 Maranello but my RS tuned 543 HP 996 Turbo is my favorite car right now because it can outrun my neighbor's F40 . I also enjoy my Mercedes ML 400 CDI which is my daily driver. I was planning to get a SL55 AMG too but I was dissapointed with a testdrive compared to my tuned Turbo and a stock Turbo. Today I ordered a Cayenne Turbo at my dealer, hopefully Porsche does a good job with their SUV.

Not very good a these type of things but I too am always interested in what type of people own and drive these wonderful cars. I am a 40 y/o President of a privately held International Telecom company that operates mainly in Latin America. My Speed Yellow 996TT makes around 500hp is is pretty modified with a leather wraped chomolly cage and GT3 seat with Schoth 5 point belts. Full carbon interior. Suspension is a Bilstien adjustable coilover shocks with GT3R control arms, swaybars and more. Wheels are custom made to my spec's by CCW. Most of the work was done by Evo Motorsports in Phoenix. I also own a pretty modified Boxster S that's an absolute blast to drive. My real passion is the Boxster Racecar I race in PCA, Nasa events around the country. It's 996 powered and mostly GT3R suspensioned with all C/F GT3R bodywork and rear wing. 300+hp and wieghts around 2400lbs. I drive a 2001 Diesal(the aircraft carrier) Excursion daily and have a diesal pusher Beaver motorhome for towing the TPD race trailer. Also have a Ducati and ski boat, blah blah blah.

Kevin Smith is my name, and I just got a 2002 996TT. I traded in a 2001 996 C2. It showed up at the dealer ship without a customer. My daily driver is a 2001 Audi Allroad. I also have a 2000 Subaru Outback that belongs to my wife.

I have a chemical company in Pittsburgh that I started back in 1986. I have a couple of very young kids. One is 2 year-old, and the other is 6 weeks and I am almost 46 years-old. My wife is 42 and we have almost been married 20 years. Late start, but having fun.

My daughter really likes the Turbo riding in her Porsche car seat. We go for chocolate milk and coffee together. The car seat for the newborn even fits in the back seat of the Turbo.

I just bought a 64 SC to restore.

Cheers,
Kevin

My name is Ricky Boyd. I am one of those guys that contracted the car disease early in life. I am living the blessed life with 2 young sons and a wonderful wife. I was a poor Air Force guy for 10 years until I early retired and joined this silly company called Newport Systems. Armed with just a CNE, I was a WAN expert back in the early 90s. We got acquired by Cisco a few years later and my life changed.

For cars, I have had a Datsun Roadster 2000, several BMWs, one ZX-10 bike, raced the Datsun and ATCs in several events. My dream, since I was 12 was to own a Porsche - they were just too expensive and out of my means. With some of my early retirement from the Air Force, I purchased the closest car I could get - a 1993 RX-7 R1 in Yellow. We sold this prized car before I got married in 1995. I then owned a 1995 Pontiac Firehawk (used for commuting really). Then all this Cisco stock really started to grow. I retired from Cisco December 1997. I then got in line to get a new 2000 (at the time) 911 Turbo. This was my dream car. I took delivery August 1, 2000 of a Speed Yellow, full carbon, hardtop, Turbo. I also built a 500 hp 1993 RX-7 for my wife as she loves this car (better than my 911).

For work, I am a Cisco-certified network consultant working for large Enterprise customers. I work on making their networks better, faster, and easier to work on. It is very satisfying.

regards

"Changing the world, one bit at a time" Rick Boyd

What we own now:
2001 911 Turbo - Speed Yellow
2000 Acura TL - My work car
2001 Lexus LX-470 - her car
1993 RX-7 - her sports car

I'm another sports car junkie from early adolescence. My name is Chuck Rich and I'm 37 yo.I once read that a person's favorite cars or taste in cars is formed at about age 14. That is certainly the case for me: that was in the late 70s and I've been obsessed with Ferrari Daytonas, dinos, porsche 911 and especially turbos, bmw 3.0 cs/i/l, mercedes 300sl, 280 sl, 600 swb, and have been adding to the list ever since. I had a 2002tii in high school which i sold when i went to college in Boston. My father had a 82 euro 911sc coupe that i drove during the summers and i knew i'd get one someday. After college i went to medical school, also at Harvard, and decided to go into neurosurgery...I did residency in NYC at Columbia. 7 long years later i finished and came back home to Salt Lake City, UT where i'm in practice today. During residency I borrowed to buy a 84 930 with k-27 turbos and other engine mods. It really flew and i'd drive all over the northeast on the few weekends i had off. It was a sweet car...one of those stories you hear about...a guy from the mideast owned it along with a few ferraris, newer porsches and rolls royces but couldn't take it back home with him b/c it was older than 6 yrs and Jordan didn't allow importation of older cars. Anyway, he had already moved and was selling the car to a broker in California when i went to see it and the wife liked me...she gave it to me for $32K with only 15k miles and honestly $30K in modification work. It gave me trouble free driving and I brought it home with me. Then I had opportunity to pick up a silver/blk 01 TT that a friend had ordered and decided not to get and I couldn't pass it up. I traded the 930 and a Range Rover for a 2000 G500, one of the last older, but better, in my opinion, cars brought in by Europa. The 996TT is now my second car but I drive the TT in the winter also. I have a beautiful wife who can't comprehend my infatuation with cars and two boys, 2 and 1, who take after dad. They each have car seats in the turbo and love it. I'd love to upgrade my stereo, put in radar detectors front and rear and add the unichip to help with the horsepower killing altitude but haven't had the time. Anyway, i think i have the perfect combination of cars for now...and will add the 3.0 cs, ferrari, old speedster etc someday. My drives from my Park City office and back, up and down the summit of I-80 are my time off, my anti-depressants and my therapy all in one. Other times we ski, golf, ride horses and fly fish. I just can't wait for my boys to grow up.

Hi! My name is Tom Gripe. I was finishing up a 20 some year career in Orthopaedic Surgery and threathened to retire. My wife said if I didn't get a hobby she would kill me within two weeks. So I bought part of a Network Security Company called Security Profiling, Inc. (www.securityprofiling.com). We have two products currently. LogBoss was released today and is an automated method of logging network errors in order to be in compliance with the Graham-Leach-Blely Act and HIPAA (health insurance portability and accountability act). Having seen first hand what the FBI can do to a clinic they suspect of mishandling financial or medical data I quickly became a believer. Our second product, strengthened for use by the National Vetarans Administration Hospital System is called SysUpdate. It is due out in 32 days on April 1st. SysUpdate is an automatic way of applying patches, hot fixes, and service packs to vulnerable windows operating systems in groups of 50 clients at a time. All determined by the network administrator. No more manual updating!!
Sorry for the long winded note but I saw a Cisco guy in here. We hope to begin wireless applications shortly and Cisco is king of wireless. Maybe we can work something out!!
My car is a 2001 996TT. I love driving it but do not race. Our company (all seven of us) is building a garage-mahall next door to store the 996TT, my 360 Modena, and my 550 Maranello (on order for 2003).
I really enjoy the threads and would like to get together with you guys when the weather turns warmer.

Thanks Doc

Hey guys,
My name is Dayton Emerson, after leaving the military in the 80's I bought a little "blue collar" bar in Columbia SC. (born in North Dakota)always a car junkie as well...too many to mention. Moved to California after getting burned out of the bar bis..hung out, learned to surf, decided funds were running a tight bit low..decided to go to work for a very small company (20 employees or so) called Performance Products. They were into Porsche products only at first, then diversified....and got bigger and bigger, spent um-teen number of years there...recently moved to Florida (culture shock) and now own a business in the Porsche realm, (still my favorite car) but have recently realized I forgot all about the 2.5 kids and the white picket fences you guys talk about..still single trying to master this "career thing" but manage to get in a little fun as well...speaking of that its 7:30PM east coast time, that would be "beer thirty"...have a nice weekend!
Cheers
Dayton

Just another lowly hardware engineer following the startup cash in Massachusetts.

I still have:
1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint
1966 Fiat 1500 GT Ghia
1978 Porsche 930 project
1993 RX7 (only 265 rwhp - what did Rick Boyd do for 402?)
1999 BMW M3 - anybody want a 4 seat car?
2000 SSZ Stradale (www.alfaheaven.com)
2001 Porsche 911 Turbo
and 20 bicycles

I used to own:
1963 Alpine-Renault M63 1100cc LeMans prototype
1966 TVR Tuscan V8 - 289 ford power.

And what is a Gamma Goat?
