Wow, I'm impressed at how well those sportscars handle the curves, and the braking simply unbelievable.

Seriously what's up with the lag from the Supra at the start? A nitrous V8 (or better yet a big inch NA V8) would own that thing assuming power to weight was identical. Both cars are nice but I'd never put up with that kind of lag for straight line racing. Same reason why equally powered Grand Nationals get smoked by Mustangs on the street.

Hey guys how about no flame war this time around.

Cool

The lag is probably because you could fit your head through that compressor housing.......they put MONSTER singles on those cars and especially the really big singles (like T-88) don't spool until waaaaaaaaay up in the rev range, but it's pure supragasm for that 1500 rpm.......100% not a street turbo, these things own on the highway though.

That Supra was running about 600rwhp and the driver was terrible. The 911 has an upgraded turbo and a BIG shot of N20, so it spools immediately.

no flame war and you make comments like this? Most GN's build up boost buy about 2500. Which is NOT bad at all.

Yeah I absolutely don't want a flame war, I wish their was a "tonque in cheek" smily As for the question of the supra, something just didn't add up so I was asking a question not flaming supras. Zach cleared it up for me. And about the GN, yes they are great cars, but in my experience with a 650+ HP NA 410" motor that I used to street race, I never had a problem dusting a GN off the line unless the driver was smart enough to get the boost up first. Experienced drag-racers will stage real fast at the track which will shake up a inexperienced turbo driver and they don't get the boost up causing them to bog of the line. You have to admit that in the stoplight race instant power can be deadly against a turbo. Like I said though this is all tongue in cheek because my current project involves selling my drag car to turbo my porsche. I fully realize that the porsche is not going to be great at 1/4 mile acceleration and that turbo lag might lose me a stoplight race or two but I love my porsche and as much as I love V8s I'm not gonna put one in it, so far my research indicates that the safest way to big HP and torque in a 911 motor is through the use of a turbo. So no flame wars, I respect all cars, some are better at standing start racing, other better at top speed, and others better at cornering, I'm sure that Supra would own in a top speed race on the highway, especially in a drag prepared car geared just for the 1/4 mile. And a GN with a good driver is a badarse ride in an of itself, but even my friends at the track will admit to having lost because the weren't "spooled up all the way"

Angry

I was curious as I was nearby fo that little shennanigan. It was adjacent to a PCA event and after their little race (and the ferrari verses viper race) we had a dozen state troopers show up to our event and want to start impounding cars. Even though we had nothing to do with the street racing and were 100% legit. Just so everyone knows the consequeces of street racing. One of the ferraris got nabed by a PD heli a few miniutes later. And for the record, neither of those cars is THAT FAST. Run a stop watch with the video and see how fast they really are... hint NOT 600 HP. Anyway, just want everyone to keep in mind the consequences, even the indirect ones, of street racing... if you want to go fast, keep it on the track!

Ed, I was there for that event! I'm hoping I'll be able to make the next metro event on the 30th...doing the NNJR autox on the 23rd and did the M-club autox yesterday.

Now they are taking drivers licenses of all the participants for metro NY autox's at tobay beach (i think all of them), Thanks a lot fools!!

How come I see all those hot cars show up at the autox...and then watch/race on the strip up front?? There were 2 ferrari 360's, a few vipers, a bunch of supra's...all watching...What has your 700 whatever hp done for you lately?

****, and I thought I had it bad getting nabbed by an undercover popo at the mcdonalds parking lot for grabbing some food past 10:00 p.m. I guess lapd has nothing better to do than to nab hungry under 18 y/o kids that are out late on a saturday night.

later,

Just cya by taking video of their plates next time they show up. Then if the cops bust you, you have something for them.
