any S4 or WRX owners?

I have a stock 03 wrx. I am now a porsche and a subaru purists. What a great car!!! It is good at everything. to me it is the perfect compromise for a daily driver. Sure a s2000 handles better but can it carry 4 people and drive in the snow? Sure an s4 is nicer but the performance is similar and the s4 is a bit of a hog and costs a ton more. The wrx really is a feistly little sedan and i love mine. That being said, I'd trade it in a second for an sti (or arena red 993tt).

Thanks for the reviews guys, I have a buddy picking up his STi this weekend and I'm gonna take it for a good drive once the break in period is up (which should be quick because he's picking the car up in Oregon and driving it back.
Then it'll all be up to the decision of car payment or no car payment

An easy car to mod, but it's not over-engineered in the durability area, IMHO. The engine and especially the tranny are about at their limits with the car in its stock power configuration and are quite susceptible to early wear/damage in heavily modified S4's.
The S4 is a much more luxurious car than the STi (also stickered new for more than $12K) and, while a pleasurable car to drive, it was no way close to as much fun to drive as is the STi. Performance-wise, also not even in the same ballpark when comparing stock examples of the two cars. Having said all that, an "unmodded" used S4 would be a great daily driver and the prices are quite reasonable now -- prices will be even lower when the new V8 model comes out later this year.

RS4 sure thats quick but since an RS4 cost more than a new STi why not just drop the bomb and get an Audi RS6 (Avant) if they have them Stateside and Abt tuning package to push out 505 hp..?
