Thumbs up porsche roadside assist

Just a passing thought
I ran over a piece of a roadside pylon that desimated my rear tire. I have to admit I was enjoying one of the last nice days and letting my x50 rock. The car is amazing. Rock steady at 160k with a tire going off. I pulled to the side of the highway with out event , but the tire was done; a piece of fibreglass right in the middle. I phoned porsche roadside right away and within 20 minutes a flatbed was there ( almost as quickly as the police). It is good to see that when you spend this kind of change on "the" car that it is backed up by quality service. Right now my car is at Pfaff in Toronto and they have been very helpful and courteous ; right down to their lot guy who took great care of my car when it arrived. Only tough thing is that the tire is pretty "inflated" in price. I guess thats part of the entry fee for such an amazing vehicle.

I had a similar experience this summer. In my haste to order a new tire through a dealer I did not ask the price of the tire. I was surprised by a significant mark-up when I paid for the service at the dealership. Their cheeky response was, "you wanted fast service, we delivered fast service". Lesson learned.

Now I keep Tire Rack's phone number on my cell phone so that I can order a tire directly if needed, but have it delivered to the dealership.

Further to my tire problem , I found out that the ministry of transport may reimburse for damage caused by road construction . Even if they cover half the cost I'll then be able to afford to keep both my arm and my leg.

They don't come with a spare tire? That's getting to be a damn annoying trend these days. Although the 2003 Mini Cooper S I ordered at least comes with a jack now so you can carry a spare if you want to give up luggage space.
