Default RMS failure on 996TT?

I've read a number of posts about the RMS issues with the 996 and wondered if it is a problem that is experienced with the 996TT motor also?

not the same engine, the TT engine is based on the GT1 race block and I have not heard of the RMS issue with the turbo engine...........so no.

Thanks...that's what I thought that I had read, but I've read so much lately about the various models/years that I couldn't find the reference to confirm it!

AS Tom pointed out, the engines are completely different. In the case of the NA 996 engine, the crankcase and heads are machined from the same block while the GT1-derived turbo engine uses separte castings. The latter (also used in the GT3, GT3) is a true dry sump engine and has tremendous performnace potential with just the stock internals. No RMS issues either.

I would not say no RMS issues, as there have been some RMS issues with the same block in the 993TT and a few reported in the 996TT.

It would be more accurate to say there are FAR fewer RMS issues in the M64/GT1 derived engine (block) than the M96 in the 9x6/9x7 family of cars.

FWIW, the latest 'fix' for the aforementioned RMS problem was the introduction of the Cayenne RMS into the 9x6/9x7 engines.
