Default I'm still confused about my boost!?!

I posted a thread this weekend about my recent 996tt purchase and GIAC flash (MY01 Tip, totally stock except for the GIAC flash), and I appreciate the responses I received. I'm willing to except that I have some improvement in performance, although not a huge difference ..... well, today it's about 15 degrees hotter than it was when I was seeing 0.9 bar regularly, and I'm down about 0.1 or even 0.2 bar since then!

Is this just because of the heat (about 92 degrees and 40% humidity), or should I be concerned about the flash not doing what it should? Thanks for any advice.

Per the Porsche owners manual. Boost output will change due to climate and octane.

As the temps increase you boost output will tend to go down.

Thanks Kevin I think that was your very polite way of saying

Maybe if I get a chance this evening when it cools down, I'll head out again and see if I get the higher boost I had before. Thanks again for the reply.

It will be nice when fall is here! Our turbos love the cool weather. Try some higher octane gas and cooler temps. and you'll see/feel some good performance improvement.

Just went out for a quick drive, now it's 72 degrees, and it feels much quicker than earlier today when it was hotter I saw 0.9 a few times at WOT in 2nd gear, and 0.8 bar at the end of 1st -- just like this weekend. Thanks to Kevin and WROSS for their input

There isn't enough load to spool full boost in 1st and 2nd.. You need to get into 4 to really see your boost levels..

you should see 1.0 bar boost for the $ the program costs. however, everything else has to be right also. temp and humidity, also I think upgraded diverters and wastegate springs help alot.

For another data point, I have GIAC Stage 2 programing and don't see any loss of boost in hot weather.

Dock -- What's the difference in the GIAC stage 1 vs stage 2 ECU programing? Do all the GIAC distributors use the same programing, or are some GIACs better than others?

I don't know what the specific programing differences are between GIAC's stage 1 and stage 2.

All GIAC programing within each stage should be the same.

To check my max boost pressure, I make a WOT pull up a hill in either 2nd or 3rd gear...starting at 2000-2500 rpm.

GIAC stage I and II are the same programming. Stage II just includes a high flow exhaust.
