Default Premium for X50

Back in 2002-2003, the value of the X50 package was much malligned. How do we feel about that now? What is X50 adding to the price of a tt? How much does a prospective buyer feel it's worth?
I'm not selling mine, but this is probably a good point to asses current perception of the option. AS

I think that when a dealer is taking your car in trade it is worth nothing. when selling the car on the open market it can add 3-5K to the sale price. My value of it ................priceless!

$ 5,000 as you might realize any performance products for a p car is expensive. I do not think I would have paid $17,000 new!!!!! But I purchased it used for about 1/3 the cost

I figure at 42,000 miles that I have had at least $17,000 worth of fun out of my 02 X-50...and with the EVOMS/GIAC stage 3...and approx 550 hp, the fun is better than ever! The hit from those K24's is always incredible.

btw, saw a 2006 Turbo yesterday, Guards Red/Black....really a beautiful car! Wow.....and love the wheels!

The K24 package on the 993TT give about 3k on sales price here. Figured since it has landed it might give a hint. Still there are far more X50 996TT than XLC 993TT..

The x50 car was probably one of the fastest cars I have ever been in.

While depreciation will always be an issue, I'm wondering if an enthusiast looking to purchase a car with the intent to modify might specifically search for an X50. While mods on a base 996tt can easily get to X50 power levels, starting from the higher floor of the X50 seems desirable, if you know you are going to re-chip,exhaust, etc. Therefore, I'm wondering if the X50 option depreciation has hit its floor. (Not that I'm selling- it's still the best car for my purposes).

AS good point....The X50 is clearly the modders car. With a standard 996....you are stuck with the k16's and the standard IC's...In order to get the really big hit...you need to upgrade to the K24's or hybrids and bigger IC's That right there is a big ticket purchase.....considering that the X50 came with a few other bits and pieces that help handle higher power levels...I would say you justify the premium over a stock. I am very happy with the power now and will say that the combination of Fabspeed Exhaust, Bailey DV's, Stock airbox and element, GIAC X50 flash from EVOMS,....Just those few minor mods yield a truly insane level of power, that amazes me everytime I touch the gas. Throw in some harnesses, Pilot Cups, coilovers and seats....and you have a racecar for the street that can't be touched by cars twice the price.

So the X-50 package has bigger turbos? I was aware of the intercoolers, more boost. What power levels can the x-50 turbos be run to? What size turbo is it?
