Plus, any parent who did have experience and bought a GT2, I'm sure they wouldn't have given it to their kid as their 1st car knowing what a beast it is to control.

I know it probably sounds a little stupid, but Porsche should have said you have to do so and so driving events/tracking etc etc..like meet a certain amount of tracking hours before being able to buy it. Sounds stupid, but it probably would have saved most of the GT2's that have been totalled all ready and made the owners of them way better drivers. Just sad to see such a remarkable car go down b/c of driver inexperience, especially a 16yr old's inexperience

Although I do know their are plenty of people on here who can handle the GT2 and track theirs.

That pic reminds me of an interview at the GT2 intro where it's chief development official said something to the effect that the GT2 was best for an early Sunday blast on a sunny ( i.e., don't drive this car in inclement weather or you are asking for it <img border="0" alt="[nono]" title="" src="graemlins/nono.gif" /> ) day. He said the obvious - that the reg TT was better for everyday , wet or shine , driving.

Why is it that whenever someone does something stupid, people want to put the responsibility on the manufacturer? Porsche should not have any requirements on who can or cannot buy any of their cars (except financial!!). People need to take responibility for their actions. I live near Boca Raton and this (buying a 200k car for their son) is all too commonplace. The parents either are trying to impress their friends and neighbors or attempting to make up for the lack of time/love given to their children. I do think that Porsche could give a free PDE to every customer that buys a new P-car as part of the package.

Driving lessons should be required of everyone who wants to drive.

I just thought Porsche should give lessons or something to that liking when buying a car like the GT2 in order to know that you are capable of driving that beast. Too many people have walked in and bought one probably thinking it's "just a Porsche", they have no idea of the capabilities of that car. But you nailed it, it's like parents here are either trying to show off or make up for something. The kid walked away, so that does prove that Porsche's are safe, even though it was mangled. He was weaving in and out of traffic, while flooring it, and then lost control.
