Maybe my experience with Upsolute will give you guys an idea about the company. I contacted their west coast dist. here in LA last week to get my ECU chipped. I removed the ECU and was getting the shipping info from him(Lanny)when he asked me what the mileage is on my turbo. When I told him I only have 1K miles, his response was for me to wait till the motor is broken in and then he'll do the upgrade. I was surprised that he actually gave a sh*t about my car and wasn't only concerned about getting my credit card number. I'll be calling him in a month or so for sure.

Dan,
Interesting. I know when we tried we got the big Ol' "Data record tampered with". There was an updated software change on the PSTII that would allow you to go in and read the IPAS and compare to the original system. It could be flashed, but it still knew that the information reading was not from the original chip.

We are talking about the same caliber of people that took 7 weeks to fix an oil leak, spent three trips back to get air out of the clutch line and dropped a wrench on my car. I have little to no faith in the dealer. LOL, and I was worried they were going to not honor the warranty if I did the work my self. I would have been better off.

That is good to know that they couldn't read it. Maybe they are utilizing the original chip now. Got me. I just speak from personal experience. I know that version 12 on reads any change in chip or program.

I think I am going to give the Upsolut a try since the Chipswitch is not ready until next week - it's a no lose situation as they have a 30-day "if you're not happy we'll re-flash to stock and give you your money back" guarantee

I think depending on what your goals are that it is the right decision.

I really wish some computer guru would develop a interface to binary code. Someone should find the guys from Star Trek to do that. You remember the ones that you could hear talk, but their mouths wouldn't move.

I do expect a FULL write up please

Stephen, your integrity and attitude is first class. I wish other tuners out there would provide as much helpful info as you do to this board. Even in a discussion about a product or service that you provide, you still maintain positive input and honest interpretation of the facts
Thanks
BTW can I have a free chip for my car??

Can I get a GIAC for free too (or half price??)
The people who are supposed to do my GIAC (no names mentioned) said that there is a slight delay as they are waiting on a piece of hardware or something. In the meantime, I will check out the Upsolute and see how well it works.
Doeas anyone know where I can get it Dynoed here in MA??

LOL. I have to say the switchable unit sounds pretty cool. I tried using the APR stuff on my friend's S4 and it was a bit of a hassle through the cruise control cluster. Much prefer a single button to push

Cobra, My pleasure. This board is for helping fellow owners. Just because it says ImagineAuto doesn't mean that I am not an owner myself and not want to help. Now If I give chips away then it may not say ImagineAuto any more

When you say "flashed" do you mean updated by the PSTII at a dealer?

So the reason for doing the separate hardware in the ECU is so the PSTII does not know there is a change?

Michael,

You are correct. The dealer will have updates and recalls. They are always trying to work the bugs out. They will flash the computer with new info. Or rewrite. <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
