Thumbs up ECU Upgrade

I have a 2001 turbo and have been considering a ECU upgrade. Car is Seal Grey & has many options and 3,900 Miles. I just use it on weekends and occasional trips.Have been in PCA 33+ years and owned over 25 911/turbos and still can't get over what a great car the 996turbo is. My question is how does the Upsolute ECU upgrade compare to others such as ImagineAuto, ect. with regard to power/reliability. Also my understanding is that Upsolute removes the chip from the ECU and solders it back as opposed to other companies that flash the ECU without removing the chip from the ECU. The price of Upsolute is sure tempting. Thanks for your input!

Many seem to have had problems with Upsolute specially in some climates with lights flickering amd MAF issues although it seems to deliver the advertised performance (which I personally think is too much for software alone). My opinion is not to go CHEAP on a 996 Turbo and go for the universal best such as RUF, RS Tuning (or Techart and Cargraphic which bought thir software to RS tuning), Manthey or Stephen for I/A or his software (Giac) sold by others and Kevin's software seems to be having a great sucess as well. One more piece of advise: put in a performance exhaust as well you, WON'T regret if you choose wisely, on the performance point of view it increases the power but will evacuate the added heat ALOT better than the OEM, buy it as a pack though...

Bang for you buck I dont think you can beat upsolute and many have and enjoy it without problems. The main reason for going for the more expensive stuff is the tunablity. the more advanced programs are able to adjust air fuel mixture, timing and boost to accomidate upgrades with the intake turbo and exhaust. I think if you want to flash the ECU and call it a day upsolute is not bad, any further thoughts I would strongly consider one of the more advanced programs, that's why they are more expensive, they are worth it. Just my 2 cents.

I know Upsolute is cheap and some people have no problems.. But if you read ALL the boards and compare the number of issues posted about each tuner... Upsolute by far has the most.. IMHO stay away and spend the bucks for a good tuner that has more knowledge than just flashing ECU's...

upsolute would make a good xmas pressie!

PS One company I'm actually suprised that they didn't go any further was APR... Strange because they had a very neat routine with the cruise control stalk etc...
