I thought that having different diameters on the axles on a awd would fry up the differentials.
It does look like if the front tire has got higher profile than the rear but I still don't get the idea of making a car look good for the price of performance.
Why go with bigger diameter rims when still having the stock brakes?

I must say though, a lot of manufactures are starting to use 19" as standard equipment. I think the new Carrera GT has a 19/20" tire combo.
As far as the TT using 20" wheels, I really thought 19's would be the limit because of the 25 rear profile. That's pretty much pushing it. Wouldn't the 20"'s have to be even thinner, like 315/20-20?

One of the main problems with 20" on a turbo is the tire sizing of the rears. The tires that are available for 20" wheels will increase the overall diameter. Also it will force you to run larger oversized front tires to keep the PSM and viscous FWD happy.
Besides the loss of performance due to larger diameter wheel and weight you will have a taller gear ratio, which will be a minus for acceleration.

Duane,
I don't know where they are located, I didn't take the picture. I know they have a website, www.exclusivemotoring.com.

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post...good to be here...
Anyhow, the 20" wheels that are pictured on this 996TT are not HRE's!!! They don't even look like 20...
HRE does not make a 5 spoke wheel with an indentation (sp.?) in the middle of the spoke. They have a solid 5 spoke (545) and also a 5 spoke with a split in the middle of each spoke (547).
Those wheels are piece of crap Giovanna GFG's (terrible quality for anything Giovanna).

AWD,
You are correct, they are GFG's, I just talked to the guy that gave me the picture. Shows how little I know about wheels! I just went on the info I was given. But, the guy I talked to said GFG's are giving HRE competition and they are not crap, for what its worth. I know nothing about their quality, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.
