Well, I've been through six or seven changes on the OEM exhaust of my 2001 996TT and have finally settled on the single cannister evolution exhaust from Todd. its about $3000. Its made from 304 stainless and is solid, good looking, uses your stock tips, and the 100 cell cats(no they don't trigger the engine light). The power is not as noticeably improved as the Fabspeeds were or as the RUF's are dyno'd by cjv et al. But the RUF's are $5500 and quiet at idle. The Fabspeed are great around town but knock your eyeballs out on the Interstate. So for me the EVOMS (Evolution Motor Sports) give nice improvement of power over the OEM's, for the right price, and the idle exhaust note is getting very throaty. It makes small dogs wimper, street gangs grin, and slender legged ladies turn and stare.
It finally dawned on me after $10,000, six four-hour trips to Chicago, and researching this on the boards for almost a year that if you are a "boy-racer" (no disrepect intended) you will like the Fabspeeds. If you are a trillionaire like Chad then the RUF's are for you. But if you are just a plain old ordinary multimillionaire like the rest of us then Evolution is for you.
Good luck with your choice.

SP: CJV is Chad. And he is our hero. <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" /> He has done more cool stuff to his 996TT over the past year and I think we all have learned a lot off of Chad's nickel. For that I am very grateful.
Ask yourself what it is that you really want. Is it more HP, torque, different HP and torque curves, sound at idle, around town, or full throttle <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> ??
If you are looking for a different sound, it is very difficult to choose without being able to hear it for yourself. Someday I hope to be able to hear a RUF exhaust for in person. The sound files that you can download are not always realistic. so it can be a shot in the dark.

Tom,

Can you be a boy-racer and a multimillionaire?? I love my fabspeeds because they have the grawl I want at idle and at higher speeds I notice no noticealbe resonance. And now thanks to CJV I also know that there are some HP gains to go along with the sounds.

Andreas: <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" /> Sure you can be worth a lot of dough and still be young at heart. I think my old ears just couldn't take the Fabspeeds. Slick looking though.
Take a peak at my next ride: <a href="http://www.ferrarichat.com/discuss/messages/21/4852.html" target="_blank">www.ferrarichat.com/discuss/messages/21/4852.html</a> It is due in Chicago June of 2003. I can hardly wait. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> The business (software, of course) is building an indoor garage and I'm going to have all my babies indoors at work.
Until then <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Hi Tom
everyone wants and needs are different in terms of sportscar sound and loudness. The stock 993TT and 996TT are like Nuclear vacuums cleaners in terms of sportscar sound. Ther just isnt any IMHO.

Many people are content completely stock with wisper quiet performance.

Fabspeed's 996TT and GT2 exhaust is very sporty and just right IMO and we have customers (sold over 125 systems to date) that want it either louder or quieter. SOON we will have 2 new versions to offer so any 996TT or GT2 owner can have essentially 3 versions of the exhaust system for less than the price of 1 RUF systems or TUBIstyle.

Its going to very absolutely beautifully made and Milspec and retrofittable to all our other current 996TT exhaust systems out ther in happy 996TT & GT2 owners right now. Fabspeed will have a highperformance comfort - quiter version and a RACE GT2 kit.

Its going to be the really cutting edge system and no-one anywhere will offer anything like it. Fabspeed currently offer the most DYNO proven -maximum power for all 996TT and GT2s. We will soon have sportscar sound that is owner adjustable in minutes with no loss in power.

Street , track, autobahn, and touring. The systems will not cost a Kings Ransom. Pictures to be posted soon.

Have a great day

Andreas: Here it is again. I think Mike Rugg got it right. I put two letter "S"'s in discuss. they only used one. <a href="http://www.ferrarichat.com/disucs/messages/21/4852.html" target="_blank">www.ferrarichat.com/disucs/messages/21/4852.html</a> It about halfway down the page
