GT3 Ring Time Fixed Wing and Hamann
Just got a July build GT3 at window:
Steven, do you have a Ring time for the new GT3 vs. the GT2 time?
Tyson, let's talk options. I plan PCCB brakes w/ yellow belts to match in white or artic, install gt3 seats [isn't it ridiculous that the GT3 comes w/o GT3 seats?] Comment?
Best, Watt

There is no known new GT3 time yet. But the man who is going to set that time is saying that he thinks it will be about 10 seconds quicker than the old GT3 so I think you can safely bet good money that it is going to be 10 seconds quicker than the old GT3.

Stephen,
If what you are saying is true, then this means that it will have an identical time to the GT2! WOW...
Old GT3 time is 7:56, same as the best time for the Turbo. 10 sec faster makes it 7:46
I take it Walter Rohrl said this?
My source may be inaccurate, it's Johan, one of the moderators of the bmwm5.com site, he says that according to his Ring buddies, Rohrl has already done an "unofficial" time of 7:52.
Either way, this is one track monster.
Watt, it was nice discussing options today. It will be fun to finally get my order guide and start picking the goodies for my car.

According to Rohl, GT3 time should come in 7-10 sec faster than the last GT3 -- but he also said it will be slower by a few seconds than the GT2 -- all of which will be a lot slower than the CGT.
But Rohl's opinion is clear: he loves the GT3 -- of course he does, it is his baby!

@watt: Save the money for the PCCB! I just talked to a driving instructor who tested the GT3. He said the GT3 steel disc brakes are awsome whereas the PCCB isn't worth the money. Maybe some others with personal experience of both brakes could chime in... I heard about lots of problems with the PCCB.

OK, so you have the experience already...
BTW: Last weekend I took my 996 cab for a "spirited drive" 3 laps around the handling course in Boxberg and ended up with a brake warning light flashing up. Brakes are down 3.000 km (street usage) since last change of the pads, so I dare to say the standard brakes on the 996 are not the best... After cooling down and restarting the light was gone???

Yep, the unsprung weight is going to make a canyon slammer!
I am going to order PCCB too. If I don't like it, I can always downgrade, whereas the other way around is virtually impossible.
There are also some great pads that apparently make the ceramics even more awesome.
